    Hello,

My wife and I are expecting our first child, and we are looking at the Prius models. We went and drove both the Prius C and the Prius 3rd gen. We preferred the Prius C, we just felt like we belonged in it more than the Prius 3rd Gen. However we didn't have a stroller with us. The one we registered for is a Britax B-Agile, it's folded dimensions are 29"x23"x10". Would this fit flat in the back of the Prius C? If not would it fit comfortably behind the drivers seat?

If it doesn't fit, I assume it will fit in the full size Prius 3rd gen. Ideally we'd like to be able to take this about 100miles to the beach on some weekends with a stroller, pack and play.

If anyone can give me the actual flat measurements of the cargo area with the seats up, that would be awesome.

Thanks and looking forward to being part of the community,
    Ish

39"x25"X14.5" - flat area behind rear seat backs. All measurements are approximate.

I'd minus 1" from all measurements just to be sure. The 14.5" vertical is from cargo floor to the underside of the rear cargo area cover.

Best to check for yourself but I think it will fit okay. One caveat is the cargo area narrows as it goes up as the rear seats slope rearward.

    YMMV

I would think if you had to, you would be able to take the cover off and stand the stroller up on its side with no problem. I have been pleasantly surprised how much stuff I have been able to load up in the C. I think we should start a new thread called "what I can load into my C" and post pics of what all we have been able to fit in the back! LOL

Thanks for all the information guys!

We actually went and test drove one today, this time with my wife driving and we took the rear facing car seat with us. It was a Britax B-Ready, but we had to slide the front seat all the way to the front, and my wife barely fit (to an uncomfortable point). My wife really wasn't excited about the bigger Prius.

We really had our minds set on the C and had already worked out a good deal on one. So now we have to debate if she is going to ride behind the driver seat when riding together, or if we should go back and get another car.

How large is that seat?? Wasn't too bad for me but we're not 5'10" tall either

It looks like its bigger than that one. My wife and I are both 5'9". I actually sit closer up on the steering wheel. The kid isn't here yet, so we could buy a different carseat in theory. My wife is reading some blogs that said to try it in the middle, so maybe we will go out to the dealer again and retry. We got there as they were closing.

Thanks for the pictures! What mpg are you getting combined on your Prius C?

You'd probably know this but the ISOFIX/LATCH system don't have mounting points for the centre position. I didn't check if there is ALR on the centre seatbelt (Prius v don't have it but the regular hatch does).

When I drove the c, I was getting 0.1L/100km (1 MPG(US)) less (which is neither here nor there) than the regular hatch (averaging 4.4L/100km) that I regularly drive. As much as I liked the c to drive around in the city, I reckon if you're going to have a tight squeeze fitting pram, weekly shopping/luggage for holiday and 3 people long term. Personally I am glad I got the hatch even though the c and v weren't available when I bought mine a year ago because of the extra length over an Auris, the depth when you take the false floor out and the non-regular car interior layout.

If the c is perfect for you otherwise, find a different seat that will fit better. The regular Prius would be more practical with it's midsize class interior for a growing family, but if the wife is unhappy, you're unhappy!

So we went back to the dealership and were able to get the car seat in this time. We had it in the base wrong apparently and had the seats reclined too much maybe. As for the latches not being in the middle, well the middle rear seat is so small the latches were pretty much equal distance, so we were actually able to use the latches too. WE didn't make an offer just yet as we are still considering saving some of the upfront money and getting a Ford Focus with the SFE package, 30/40mpg. It's not Prius mpg, but it is more roomy, and we liked it better than the normal full sized Prius. We are still having a hard time, it also doesn't help that I am an instant gratification type person, and I can't get a Prius C Two for a few weeks, where the Focus is ready to drive off the lot. Who knows.

In case anyone else (like me) is hitting this page on Google looking for the interior cargo bay measurements for a 2015 Prius C, it's approximately 55" x 37" x 25" with the seats down. As stated above the seats take some height away so 25 is a max height, and 37 is a minimum width (between the plastic "shelf" rests, so a few more inches can be squeezed for short items.)

I use my c to take my son places from time to time. Personally I wouldn't want to take him in it regularly. I can't fit our stroller (Chicco the one that works with the keyfit30 seat) in without folding one seat down. As mentioned the passenger side seat gets pushed pretty far toward. I am 5'11 and can't fit it behind my seat (Chicco keyfit30) and still have room for me to drive comfortably. Just another opinion.

See attached picture of a Thule Chariot 1 in the back of a Prius C 2018. Not much else will fit but i am still very happy! Hope it helps an active family to settle on a car/stroller combo!
