IMG_0894.JPG Anyone agree? I think so and have had many comments indicating others agree.

Not taking away anything from the standard Prius, as we plan to replace my wife's car with a full size Prius at some point. Maybe if they have a model redesign.

I do hope Toyota takes the body style or similar configuration from the C and moves it over to the full size Prius, just personal taste here, and not comparing power band here, just the appearance.

I agree. I have had my friends and siblings all saying the same thing. The first thing they usually say is it looks much sportier than the regular Prius.

it might look sportier... but how it performs.. well... we don't have a PWR mode... and that 1.8L in the GenIII will dominate us on the road..

otherwise.. more the comments i've been getting is.. yes.. it does look better and strays away from the what's become the "traditional" look of the Prius (though that body style is because of aerodynamics.. and the cd of the GenIII is still better than the C)... but instead of "sportier"... i've more gotten.. it's "cute"

    "C"... for "Cute"

the C's body shape suffers from drag a lot more, and if they blow it up to a larger version comparable to the current size of the GenIII... it'll probably make it only slightly better. you're just asking for a smaller Prius V at that point...

but that rear section of the car really needs to drop down more to improve the cd.. the body of the liftback won't change dramatically.. because for the most part.. it's become the staple of the Prius body style.

No disrespect intended toward anyone, but I like the looks of my c a whole lot better than the standard Prius. The plain-ness of the original Prius was why I never considered one before, and it's really a shame too!

I wish Toyota would re-design the "big bro" Prius' front end and give it some personality. Or, if that isn't a possibility because of aerodynamics issues, maybe some chrome on the front, just to add some sparkle. More body color choices might jazz it up some...

    - More money spent: Yes.
    - Sportier and better looking: No.

    I haven't been closer than a dozen feet from a C-model.
You know what it looks like to me?
    Right.
    It looks lile a Prius.

I'm not trying to piss in anybody's potted plant here, but if you spend 20 large on a car, why would you do so for a car that doesn't appeal to you?
In the motorcycle community, we call this riding YOUR ride.

    Be proud.
Talk a little trash if you want to, but to 90-something percent of the population, if you took the badges off of it, would they REALLY be able to identify it correctly as a C-type without sitting it next to a G3, or even correctly identify it as a Toyota?
I filled up my G3 today.
All the way empty to all the way full took $28 and change.
    Range: 550 miles or so.
    I'm not a hypermiler.

THAT's usually all I usually ever need to say to somebody who tries to trash-talk Priuses. :D

    Next.

Realize the regular Prius is all about CD, how a small midsize car can cut through the atmosphere as efficiently as possible while still retaining a usable shape to comfortably hold people and cargo. Even the slight changes to the shape and length of the c had a significant impact on highway FE performance, but it was a trade off to attract a more mainstream customer. I think they both look pretty darn nice!

Though I do prefer the c, I think they've done a really good job with the newer liftbacks. They actually do have some sport to them, I think. Much better than the older designs.

I figured this thread would strike a nerve or two...Opinions are like noses, everyone has one.
Now that my DH and I have (joined the 21st century and) purchased a hybrid :p when we trade, it's no doubt, we'll look hard at the Prius lift back or hatch as options.

Humm... introducing an affordable "entry level" hybrid with a little different look, great mpg and Prius name to entice customers... do you suppose that was Toyota's fiendish plan all along? Naw, it's simply marketing 101. ;)

C looks sportier. A lot of people say how they hate the regular lift back. I get that my c is sporty and it's "cute"

I totally agree. I would have never considered one of the older designs but since the redesign and the most recent 2012 update they got me!

I like everything on the c except the tail lights and the drum brakes in the rear. :cautious:

It's hard to say a car is "sporty" when it has drum brakes. :p

I was never going to buy a Prius liftback, based on looks alone. But when the c was introduced I liked it right away, and ended up buying one. Now that I've had it for a few months, the liftbacks don't look bad to me ... I think the c has just enough similarity that I'm now conditioned to accept the liftback design. ;)

It helps that the newest liftbacks do look better than the older models. But to answer your question, yes, the c is definitely better looking in my opinion.

It would also be interesting to compare the perceived "sportiness" of the c to other cars in its class, like the Fit and the Versa hatchback. For instance, one of my friends has a Versa hatchback and was complaining that it doesn't look as sporty as my c.

I also was never into the prius look until the C came out. I really liked the looks of it, and since I've been driving it, i'm amazed at how many prius' there are everywhere. I guess I didn't notice them before... but now that I have one, i see them more.

From the front, the c looks very similar...

anyway just my contribution, i agree that the C is sportier looking, and since I've got a C i tend to accept the look of the other new prius cars. however I still like the c alot more.

I bought a 2010 prius IV a few weeks ago and u was luke warm on the second gen body style, but I really like the third generation quite a bit. I looked at the mini lexus hybrid which is essentially the upgraded c model and went with the bigger car as it's just more practical for work and family stuff.

To each their own. Bottom line, I love my prius and would buy another one in a heartbeat.

The c is definitely more youthful and has a sportier image imo. The liftback is just a bit more mature (and the dreaded "boring" associated with it?). I find the 3G Prius pretty sleek and a step up from the 2G (which we still have). It's nice that the c is bringing in a wider range of people into the hybrid family!
