My present car has a female name but it is neither male or female. I just give cars names so I can curse at them, or sweet talk them, when it seems necessary. My first car was named Hiethcliff, after the character in "Withering Hights" not the cat. I got the car just after I finished the book. Some of my cars have gender neutral names, The Beast, Red, The Queen (85' Maxima that was always giving orders). It is a car but sometimes it is necessary to talk it.

... suppose it works better for a cat than a car.

FYI, "white" is the masculine racing color in Japan.....where the Prius originated from....

Do you sex them like you do VW Bugs? Counting the number of tail pipes, I mean. :)

Mine was named after a female cat so I treat it as female.

That's fine and I may have agreed many, years ago until I delivered a baby from a teen. Her name was Female (pronciation I am not sure how to do this but it was FemAlie). Her mother was a teen when she delivered and the isolette had a card on it that said Jones, Female and she thought that was nice so she put it on the birth certificate application. True story.

Just now, I went to the garage and with the help of the neighbor, flipped mine over.

Lifted back the dealer-installed undercoating a little and reached back behind the engine, sort of near where the block heater would go when I finally go that route.

    Mine's a male.

    What's everyone else have?

Only time will tell. If it leaves me, ignores me, or treats me like crap, then it's a female.

Well, judging from the "appendage" in the center between the rear legs, er, wheels seen in this photo , combined with the female Nav voice, I would say the Prius is a hermaphrodite, not surprising since a hybrid, by definition, goes both ways.

(ignore the arrow, it highlights the level sensor; I am talking about the larger "hangy down part" to the right.

    Male for sure.

It works as expected. It doesn't not start for no aparent reason. It doesn't complain about much. It has lots of gadgets. It wears just plain nice colors.

The NAV lady is pretty bossy though. I like to imagine her as the back seat driver.
