Prius C is one of the hardest to find cars

Neat....I really like the color they chose for the article. being partial to silver of course
Took me an hour to find mine and four days until I took delivery.

+1 - I was crushed when I found they were not importing the yellow "kiiroi" Cs.
Heck - I'd even be willing to pick up a few fares("Taxi! Taxi!") as long as they are cute looking Japanese office ladies.

Really? The salesman tried harder to sell me the C and I ended up with little bigger Prius. Well, I'm living in mid state. Maybe different than the big cities.

 

It's really hard to find C's where I live and i'm in a very populated area. They only have white and black ones here and mainly only offer C1s. Every dealer I went to wanted to sell me their 1s and told me it would be impossible to find any Cs. I had my Grey C2 shipped to me from another dealer. So far I seem to be the only C in central florida that I can find. We do like the regular Priuses here.

 

My dealer says most C's they get are sold before they arrive. They are the #1 Prius (all types) dealer in my area. Still, I rarely see a C on the road. Must be "out of towners" snapping them up!

 

Old wolf- that is exactly my thought. Never see them on the road but my dealership has sold several. The only one that I have seen in the wild is a SRM like mine and it didn't come from around here.

I had my C3 brought from another dealership too. I wanted a 3 without a sunroof and they hadnt seen one yet, even though my dealership gets a couple a week. Like Oldwolf said they are sold before they are off the truck!

 

I have not seen another Prius c in my area (besides mine). I have seen the Prius v, but not another c, in northeast PA.

 

Purchasing a Prius c is even more difficult in CA than in other parts of the country. I attempted to purchase a Prius c in Apr 2012 but was told by the Sunnyvale, CA dealership that it would be a 4-8 week wait before the car I wanted would be available. I was looking to purcahse a Summer Rain Metallic Prius c Two.

After waiting the 4-8 weeks the dealership told me that the car was unavailable because Toyota Japan was no longer shipping Prius c Ones or Twos to CA. I was never able to obtain the reason from the Sunnyvale dealership as to why Toyota Japan had made this decision, but other dealerships in my area confirmed what the Sunnyvale dealership was telling me. The Summer Rain Metallic color was also next impossible to find in the Prius c Three or Four models.

I began looking out of state and eventually the car I wanted was located in Las Vegas, NV by a CA dealership. The South Lake Tahoe, CA dealership, which is very close to the NV border, was able to trade one of their cars for the one in Las Vegas. I was able to drive to South Lake Tahoe, CA (about 4 hours away from Sunnyvale, CA) and trade my Prius 2010 for the new Summer Rain Metallic Prius c Two.

 

I think it's interesting that the FR-S is not on that list in the article. Around here you still can't find one sitting on the dealer lot.

 

Dorian, I agree - an FRS is a hard thing to find too!
But, their production being so limited, Forbes might just be thinking to write about high-demand mainstream products.

If anyone curious about this wants a Four, I have plenty of well equipped Fours!! Right now, as I type, I have 11 available on-ground. Our Fours's in SoCal get the 15" alloy wheel package/sunroof combination most of the time - so all my cars have it but I think I have a car available with just alloys too. Details are in my current inventory thread in this forum!
