Should I be worried about dealer transmission fluid change mistake?

    I wouldn't be surprised if they lied about what fluid they put in and therefore would not trust them.

    Ok, I just thought it was really jumping to conclusions to assume that just because they listed "ATF" that it had to be the wrong ATF type.

    The "QTY 10" makes you wonder about how competent they are though.

    It would be more of a jump to assume they used the correct fluid.

    There was no mention of T-IV used. When I first arrived back to the dealer. I showed my paperwork that shows just ATF as the fluid and said that I was worried that the wrong fluid was used. He took my paper work and said he was going to go ask a tech, not sure if same tech as did the first service. however the paper work showing the new fluid change showed the same tech name and number. anyways he came back and thats when he said he asked the tech and the tech said regular ATF and World standard is ok to use on my year of prius. I said I would like to have world standard. They agreed and took the car and said would change it again. They had the car for about 1/2 hour, but I never saw it in the bay and I stood at that window the whole time too cause I wanted too see them change the fluid. I don't know if they have another bay somewhere, but it never showed in the one that it was in last time where I saw them do the work. hmm I should have asked to talk to the tech directly that worked on my car so I could have found out for sure what he used. but if the tech used WS the first time, why would he just not say that he used WS and that is just what they put on the paper work. though even if they did that, id still be worried. lol 1.png 2.png

    I have seen type F, ATF and Dexron and both of them are red as well. I have not seen WS in person, yet.

    we do have 1 quick-lube tech. he's been doing it for 15 years, and he makes more than minimum wage. most oil changes are performed by line techs though.
    it may be true that non luxury brands have lower standards than MB, but when the tech goes to the parts counter, he is responsible for making sure he gets the right stuff.
    i would suspect toyota charges alot more for ws than bulk atf, so it would make sense to charge for ws. i think the 10 qts. atf was a clerical error, cause the person doing the billing probably has never even seen what atf looks like and has no idea what ws is.

    virtually all trans fluid is red. WS is red too. i did my own fluid change on my '04

    guys,

    I'm no mechanic, but I've heard it said that the different functions of auto fluid determine the color of the fluid. That way, if you see a spill on the ground you can determine by the fluid color if it is brake fluid, transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, or coolant that is leaking. So that is why you all are saying that the different brands are all red (because they're all transmission fluid).

    you know what i meant...
    yeah, we get the cheap idiots that won't do a trans service because they want to save money. then when the trans screws up, its MB's fault. those are the same morons that go to jiffy lube and come back w/ leaking or cross-threaded oil drain plugs, and collapsed aftermarket oil filters leaking all over the front of the motor.
    one of the things i love about toyotas is you can service it yourself. they are easy to work on.
