Has anyone tapped the Trunk light on there Prius yet, tapping it from the inside left and then routing a wire to the hatch lid sounds like a pain, wondering if there is already ones inside the hatch

My guess is there has to already have taps ready to go or easily done for the JDM models. Perhaps the JDM model has a instruction manual with such information =)

After reading the link, I did not see a reference to the JDM style install in which the lights are on the hatch door so when its open its beaming light from above instead of just the left middle of the trunk area.

You have the right idea about LED, I went with exLED Day light spectrum kit, to save time with modding.

How did you go about tapping the existing trunk light, was there already a wire in the Hatch?

I soldered a wire to the light switch and snaked it through the hatch. It was a royal pain and took forever, but was sooo worth it in the end. I plan on doing the same with the Prius, but just haven't figured out what lights i'm gonna use. On the Saab it was easy. I just used old school LEDs and secured them with a hot glue gun on the backside since the hatch was lined with a carpet material. The Prius has that hard plastic so I think it'll take a little more creativity to make it look pretty. You can't see it in the pictures, but I even ran a switch up top so that you can turn the top lights on and off independently. It was a nice touch.

Royal Pain is what I am afraid of, Once instructions are found on how to remove the plastic hatch piece or experiments lol, line that task up with sound proofing and snaking the wires like you did maybe the solution.

For those that have done the signal mirrors themselves, it would be the same process......the hatch cover & the rear piller cover will need to be removed so that the wires can travel the same route as the OEM wires going to the hatch. All that needs to be figured out is what's LEDs we can use. I'm looking into placing LEDs where the cutouts are for the lic plate lights are.
