Saw my first one on Wednesday! Charging at the Rivercenter parking ramp in St. Paul MN. Very cool, the more the better
Noticed my first one in the wild yesterday, Sea Glass Pearl on I-90 at Issaquah. It is likely that many more have simply passed unnoticed, not jumping out at me from the regular GenIIIs. Also saw Insight-I, Volt, and Malibu Hybrid in a fairly short distance, in additional to all rest of the Prii family and some HCHs. The Volt spottings have risen sharply in the past few weeks, most likely indicating that my spotting antenna is finally getting tuned in.
That's awesome John, sorry I wasn't checking out the plate. Long day at the Science museum had both my nephew and I tuckered out
I saw my car's twin yesterday on Friars road in Mission Valley. Me and her exchanged waves before she turned onto the 163 freeway. It's a fun and friendly community of people!
Rochester, Minnesota was the sight of my first Leaf... a week and a half ago. I was night biking and it just happened to catch my eye as I was turning. So, I wasn't certain. The distinct tail-lights were easy to confirm when I had my first proper sighting yesterday, just 3 blocks from my home. St. Paul, Minnesota today was my first PHV sighting. It could have been our good friend, the only other delivery to MN as far as I'm aware of. Was it? The color was the same... which is what caught my eye. I was quite shocked by that unexpected opportunity. It sure will be nice next year when sales begin here.
Being from PA where I've not seen ANY PiPs, I was excited to spend last week in SoCal - thought for sure (based on this forum) that I'd see a bunch of them! Didn't see one until I was getting out of my car at John Wayne airport to head home at about 5:38 on Friday night (8-10) - silver, but had dealer tags from Huntington Beach Toyota! Oh well... maybe some will move to PA to keep me company soon!
That was me! It was a while ago but I kept meaning to come and post. We truly are twins; even both have the same university on our cars... I have a cling, you have the plate frame.
I was apparently the second one in the DC area to buy a PIP. I have not seen anyone else driving one. I know you're out there!
If you don't need to worry about the law, tint all the windows including the windshield. The windshield being tinted helps a lot. The brands and quality of tints will be incremental, and if you choose ceramic or titanium it'll help as well, but ceramic and metallic tints also interfere with your cell reception. Get regular tint and cover all your windows with anything from 50% windshield to 30-20% on the sides and you will reduce the temps. I just had my prius tinted and it made a big difference.
Well, we have 4 -count them- FOUR at work now and only 3 parking spaces for the 1 charger but we seem to manage it well as 2 of us are on campus for shorter periods. YEAH!!!
YES !!!!!! I saw a new Prius approaching. He was turning left. I was turning right. As I did, the green stood out. Could it actually be? Sure enough, the emblem said "PLUG-IN HYBRID". My jaw dropped. With only 2 known PHV in all of Minnesota, what was the story with this third one? I had to find out. So, I just stopped along the drive. Sure enough, he pulled up along side me without concern for blocking traffic. His was only 2 weeks old, driven all the way from Portland to vacation out here. Encountering mine (and at that point the wildly excited driver) was quite a surprise for him. So, we pulled into spots and chatted for a bit. That was sweet. The potential for PHV next year when national rollout begins is remarkable. Just listening to the conversation two owners can stir up is powerful confirmation. All the rhetoric about the battery-pack being too small will fade away fairly quick. The simple operation and overall efficiency speaks for itself. Getting the word out about that is the key... something we as owners are happy to provide.
Driving in town the other day with my 2006 Red Prius and all of a sudden there is this car. I pull up to it and bam, it's a plug-in too. The sun is shining on the drivers window so couldn't see who it was. I honked and motioned to the driver to lower the window. Oh dang, it was my wife driving our new 2012 PIP. Sorry, false alarm. Cheers .
I saw another PIP in West LA this afternoon, it was Green. It's the first one I have seen on the road around here (other than mine) for quite a while.
On Sunday night at a Whole Foods in the East Bay Area, I was charging at the ChargePoint Station, and there was a Clearwater Blue PIP using the other ChargePoint Station - there are 2 charging stations at this location
