Hello everyone! I have only owned Toyotas my entire driving life and have been hoping that my next is a Prius. Is it unrealistic to think I can get maybe a 2004 or 2006 for around 6000.00? Or am I just dreaming.

Well, I would say a bit difficult, mostly because the Prius cars tend to be a bit higher in resale value.

Just to give you an idea... In my area, with just the 2004-2006, used, within 25 miles, New Cars, Used Cars - Find Cars at AutoTrader.com shot out only 1 listing:

    Used 2005 Toyota Prius - White, 84k miles - $12,987

Twice what you are asking for and it's a 2005. 1 year difference, even with high milage, you are still looking at maybe $9 to 10k min price wise.

Unfortunately, the days of finding a car at the price range you are asking, before everything else, looks like a pure gas car, again with some high milage or older than a 2004. I would check New Cars, Used Cars - Find Cars at AutoTrader.com, CarMax - Browse used cars and new cars online and Hassle-Free Car Buying Experience from Local Dealers - TrueCar to see what you can get for sure, but the Prius cars tend to have a pretty high re-sale value, even some of the older ones.

    Lowest in my area....

    carmax
    2007 w/ 45k mi $19899

    craigslist
    2007 101k mi $11999
    2005 108k mi $12500
    2006 119k mi $9995

    I see a few $6000 and under, but they are 2002, 2001

You could get one, but it could take a while.
You may just have to be in the right place at the right time.
    Good luck
