The dealer has 3 of these . They are Silver , Sea Glass Pearl , and Nautical Blue Metallic . There's another dealer with the 2s' in the same colors and is closer . May go test drive one or 2 and then try to get them to match the price .

I don't blame u as those are some great & tempting prices:D. FYI, locally here in Los Angeles area there are similar prices which is the lowest I've seen the prius advertised at in recent years & yes they are for new 2012 models.

These are '12s . Probably give you a ridiculous low trade to make up for the discount . Usually there's a catch . Guess we'll have to find out .

W'e're thinking the same . When gas prices do spike again , it'll help the trade in value . Had a '07 Prius 2 and got a heck of a good trade in value when the cost of gas went up due to Katrina and Rita . They had it sold the day the papers were signed for the '08 Yaris sedan ( new ) .

The one thing that bothered us about the '07 Prius was that the computer display unit inside the dash would make a lot of noise on rough roads / streets which are of abundance here in the N.E. . Hope that and other rattles aren't an issue with the '12s . Are they ? If we test drive a '12 I'll try to find some rough raods / streets to listen for any noises . If any are heard , will likely pass on it .

That sounds like a sweet deal. See if price is same without a trade in.

I am guessing that the $21k price is without freight ($760) and the advertising fee of about $500 or more. Plus I am sure there will be a hefty dealer fee of some sort.

Yes those are awesome prices, I purchased the 2012 Prius 2 yesterday for $22,577 before tax, tag, fees, and I thought I got a good price. (Charlotte, NC)

Case in point of similar deals advertised today in local paper in L.A. County by Manhatten Bch. Toyota (owned by John Elway btw) is $20,888 for prius 2 w/ msrp of $25k. & that's not a 1 or 2 only, it is all in stock. Prices vary from region to region I'm sure but there are plenty of deals to be had;) .

That's a killer deal. The 2012 rides completely rattle free. It is a huge update from the 2010/11 models. Seaglass pearl is a very nice color. It changes in different lighting conditions. That was my #2 choice if I couldn't get what I have now. Post some pics tonight after you buy the car :)

From http://pictures.dealer.com/j/johnelwaysmanhattanbeachtoyotascica/0473/a0d735020a0d02b7012297d789e58341.jpg (link from Toyota Military Rebate Program & Specials at John Elway's Manhattan Beach Toyota), it looks like $20,888 is after $500 military rebate. Otherwise, it's $21,388, which still sounds pretty good.

Looks like we may pass on this and wait on the possibility of a Honda Fit hybrid that may arrive sometime in 2013 . One local ad has '12 Prius at 0% for 5 years . If they coupled the 0% with the $21,000 or slightly higher may have to pull the trigger . Car sales are slumping , thus the manufacturer rebates / dealer discounts could get better . Gasoline hopefully will go down for the colder months ahead and that should help as well .

Car sales are slumping again , so that should bring more car manufacturer rebates / dealer incentives . Then gas should go down after Labor Day which may help with buying fuel effecient vehicles . Plus the introduction of more hybrids and small cars should contribute to lower prices . Time will tell .

How are dealers getting down to these prices? I'm looking for a Blizzard Pearl 2 and have challenged my local dealers to get below $22.7K and they can't figure it out.

I think part of it may be College Grad discount of $1,000 or the Miltary discount as mentioned above ( misleading at times to regular consumer ) . That won't help us . If they can give those discounts that tells of the mark up and the room they have to play with . We were told dealerships get secret rebates from the manufacturer that the consumer may see all , some or none of .
