I am curious, is this lifetime warranty on gas engine and transmission something many Toyota dealers offer with the car? I am dealing on a car now with a dealer who has this warranty with the Prius C. Should we not make the deal I would be interested in asking each dealer about this. I tend to drive my cars a long ways before buying a new one. Our Vibe GT has 155k on it now and never a problem. But, with the smaller engine, I am very interested as we may put a lot of miles on it.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Never heard of it. That warranty is most likely as good as the dealer offering it. Your smaller engine is the same displacement as the Gen2. I don't remember seeing any "engine needs replacing" threads.

My dealer offered a 20 year/200,000 mile powertrain warranty on ALL Toyotas (not just the Prius'), so obviously Toyota is confident of their engine design.

It works as long as a person does not miss any scheduled maintenance and has it documented. Failure to do so will void the extra warranty. Some dealers pay for this on their sold vehicles. Today I visited a dealer who was "burned" and had to pay for a transmission for the customer. They then cancelled the program. The owner missed a scheduled maintence by 5 miles.
I am confident in Toyota's vehicles so, I bought one today from a dealer who does not offer this program to customers.
