How rare are Blue Ribbon Metallic Prius v's?

I have yet to see one. I have just ordered one and have been waiting weeks with no hard date from the dealer on when I would receive it. They said that I could receive a red one in 2 weeks when it arrives but I like the blue ribbon metallic color.

Anyone know how rare a color this car is for the Prius v?

    Thanks

The one in my pic I showed up at the dealer and it was sitting on the lot. I actually wanted the Magnetic Grey as the car I was trading in was about the same color and Misty Grey interior. The salesguy opened the door on this one and I realized the carpets were black and I was sold. Its such a beautiful color in person, I couldn't turn it down. In fact, it was harder to find one in Magnetic Grey for me than the Blue Ribbon. The closest dealer to me with the Grey was over 75 miles away (I have 6 Toyota dealers within 20 miles of my house...).

We have a Blue Ribbon Metallic Five w/o ATP. There weren't any local v Fives, but the delay to get ours wasn't any longer for the Blue than for any of the other colors. However, on the street I've only seen black, pearl and silver ones; the Clear Sky, Magnetic Grey, Blue Ribbon and Barcelona Red seem to be rare.

It's funny here in Connecticut, all we see is blue ribbon V's, Greys and Silvers.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I just bought my wife a brand new Red Prius V 5 with ATP. We got it two weeks ago. But my wife's Red was the only one I have seen. Got a great deal on the V. My wife loves it.

It took 5 weeks for dealership to get my Red V3 from Japan. The Red, Blue and Clear Sky colors seems to be rarer than the Black, White, Silver and Gray.

    2005 Prius
    all,

First of all, I AM aware that this is a Prius v thread, so I apologize for this slight hijack. As you can see by my info in the screen name/author block, I own a 2005 Prius. Back then I had my original ordering dealer(in Connecticut) tell me that the white exterior/gray interior, Pkg 4 I wanted was never built & didn't exist (in other words "the brochures were printed wrong"), so 3 times they told me to take one of their pkg 6's (the highest & most expensive back then) in whatever color came in or be removed from their waiting list entirely (after they had use of my $500 deposit for 6 months). So I went to another dealer (in Massachusetts) only 10 miles from the first one & placed an order there (no deposit required) & had the exact car I originally asked for in only 6 weeks. Granted, that 2nd dealer was in another region (the Boston region which included 5 of the 6 New England states---Connecticut was in the New York region for some strange reason).

The reason for this slight hijack is to explain to some of you (who don't know yet) that Toyota has a strange allocation system for distributing their cars. The USA is divided up into 12 regions [with the southeast region (Florida & other gulf coast states) operating totally independent from all the other regions & Toyota---that's why their cars are loaded up with all kinds of expensive extras that nobody usually has any need for but can't get removed from the sales agreement]. Anyways, the regions decide (with input from the dealers in a particular region) just what color combinations (interior & exterior) & what option pkg numbers they will order & stock for that region. If a buyer wants some thing that IS made but not stocked/ordered by that region, well then that buyer is just out of luck unless he is willing to go to another region (in my case, just a few miles over the Connecticut/Massachusetts border), or try to talk their dealer into working out a swap with another dealer (most of the time that request is ignored or refused, as with my original ordering dealer). Funny how when they realized they were losing the sale (when I called them to say my EXACT "car that isn't made" was locked in to be delivered to my 2nd dealer (after a swap) that they suddenly could find a dozen of that same exact non-existant car.

Not to intentionally take up more time here in YOUR thread, but I found it very interesting when my 2nd dealer printed out production figures for me to show me why my particular choice for a Prius was a little difficult to fulfill (but he did by working the computer & phones to work out a swap). Remember, this was in the first quarter of 2005 & I wanted a gray interior. Silver (avail. only with gray interior) was 35% of the production, but I've never been crazy about silver cars of any kind. Driftwood (goldish looking) only came with a tan interior, so not interested & I didn't care what the production %age was. Black came with either tan or gray interior (but too hard to keep clean, so I didn't care again about the production %age). The salsa red, seaside blue, & tideland (gray with just a hint of some green if you looked from the proper angle) all had only the tan interior, but I do remember (why?) that they were 15, 16, & 17 % of the production (but not necessarily in that order). The white exterior color (that I wanted) was only 6% of the production, divided into 5% with tan interior & 1% gray interior (the one I wanted). But I didn't want a car that I had just a 1% chance of getting. You see, they had 6 option pkg levels (1 thru 6) that year available to the public, PLUS a little talked about pkg zero that was only for rental & municipal fleets (according to some dealers---but my 2nd dealer told me he could sell me one if I wanted it). So you have to divide 1% by 7 (total option pkgs, though I don't know how the option pkg %ages broke out) for just a 0.14% (roughly) chance to get the white/gray pkg 4 that I wanted. My 2nd dealer had no trouble doing that for me & was even able to control which port installed options were put on or left off. Try getting a dealer to do that for you nowadays.

Again, folks, sorry for the temporary thread hijack, but I just thought that [even though the facts above are from 7 years ago when there was only one type of Prius (before the touring became available)] this might give you guys & gals some insight into why certain colors or option pkg's are difficult to get in some areas. Now you have to add into the mix : the "c" compact, the "v" wagon, & the "PIP" Plug-In-Prius (with all the options & colors for the 3 of them) besides the standard Prius with all of its' options & colors.

Me too!, i take delivery on Monday. Mine will be white though. A blue one would've meant another 2 weeks of wait, + the dealer convinced us that white ones have better resale value.

I saw a blue one today. I've seen a few white, silver, red, and black ones but this was the first blue. The last 4 cars my wife and I have bought have been white, though. The blizzard pearl is a fantastic color. It really pops when the sun is just starting to go down.

My dealer told me that Toyota makes just 3% of the entire Prius family in blue ribbon metallic. If that is true, then it is quite rare :)

Joined the Prius family with my purchase of a Blue V today. I think the color is quite sharp, actually. At the very least will be easy to find in parking lots full of white, gray and black cars. :)

I wanted a Blue Ribbon *so badly*, but there weren't any available anywhere in our state and we didn't want to wait on ordering one. We got super lucky with the Clear Sky sitting on the lot though :) Dealer even said that was the first of that color he'd seen, as he mostly got the silver, black, and gray ones.
