I drive a lot of highway miles and for a while I had a goal of getting 60MPG going an average of 60MPH for at least 60 miles. Here is a pic. So close.

The MPG * MPH product beats 60*60, so that looks like success to me.

    Looks good to me. :)

That's a good photo for those who doubt the ability to get 60mpg and 60mph cruising speed. That avg. mph tells the tale.

I wish I had taken a picture of my 326 mile trip average 79 mph and 42.3 mpg! Prius is the only car that can do it!

Was this a round trip (same elevation)?
Did you reset TRIP when you were doing 60+ mph or standing still with cold engine?
Was the speed constant on flat ground or do you have small inclines and descends and fluctuating speed?

Maintaining 60 mph average speed I'm really struggling to keep it above 50 mpg.

Great result, both considering mpg and mph.
I had my glory time too last year

That is 81 mpg for 47 mph.
Speed was not that high anyway

I was going from the NASCAR race this weekend in Indy back to Ohio. I stopped for gas and reset the trip odometer at the gas station when I filled up with gas. I never turned the car off at the gas station.

It was a standing still start with a warm engine that was all ready running.

Once I got on the highway it was set to 64MPH. The speed limit was 65MPH. The ground is very flat in Ohio. There are very small inclines and descendents.

If I drove a few more exits it would have hit 60MPH. We had to get home.

That is what I have noticed in my travels so far as well. 60 or maybe even 61 seems to be the MPH/MPG crossover point (on flat terrain).

if you get up to 60-62 mph and reset the trip and run for 60 miles in Ohio or Indiana you can get 60+ mpg no problem this time of year I have found. if you want to run faster MPH get behind a semi not talking about 2 feet from the bumper but several car lengths and you can still get very good fuel economy but a bit faster I have been behind a few that had there trucks set at 65 mph cruise and it was perfect

Even a few car lengths isn't enough.

i have done it several times before BUT, my "62 MPG" would only calculate to about "57-58 MPG"

as you can see by my signature, the "dash" mpg and the calculated or pump mpg is not equal but i have averaged 57-58 MPG on freeway trips on the tankful. Last time was last Summer on trip to Roseburg, OR. it was drive there, a small amount of city driving and drive home total 605.3 miles @ 59.3 MPG all on a single tank of gas

I think the discussion is centered on what it shows on the display.

No, it just makes the conversation and comparisons immensely easier. How would you even get an accurate hand calculated reading at just highway speeds? You would need some sort of refueling vehicle to drive or fly the same speed.
