    One of the last projects to bring my Prius up to my 'standard':

    I'd like the same type of foot well LEDs that I had in my HSH.

    Concept: electrically tap into the rheostat that is just to the left of the steering column to allow me to dim the units and have an on-off switch next to my EV mode button (next to the rheostat for the speedometer brightness). Has anyone else done this technique?

    For the life of me I cannot seem to find an electrical diagram that shows the dimming rheostat.

    Can someone please point the way? I looked in my on-line shop manual as well as my Bentley's hard copy manual.......I just cannot seem to find the unit in the drawings....

    It looks like we are wanting to do the same project. I have seen different posts on adding footwell LEDs in a Gen. II, but I would really want what you described - control of the footwells in one of the open spots to the left of the steering column. It would be great to have them turn on and off with the dome lights, a low light setting for when the car is in motion, and a manual on/off (or on/off/low) switch as described.

    I have found this PDF by SparkyAZ for his footwell project. He goes into detail on pages 22-23 on how to make a circuit board to control power for his four units, but I'm not familiar enough with making a circuit board to make my own.

    I'm not managing this new set-up with this chat room well, so I hope this reply gets to where it should go...
    I could not figure out how to wire into the dimmer circuit without risking problems....I really don't like looking at wire diagrams on a computer monitor, I work best with the old paper/hard copy.......so long story short, the footwell LEDs in my car are on all the time the car is on, at one intensity.
