    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to ask the more knowledgeable individuals here to clarify this. Is toyota going to support the SIRI voice commands that are coming with car integration of IOS6 via the "voice commands" button on the steering wheel for C3 and C4 models or is that something that will be integrated in something like the 2013 model or others?

From the apple press conference when they unveiled SIRI for the cars Toyota was one of the partners that were on-board to support it so I dont know if it will be coming to all of the cars or just their luxury sedans and such...

I think it will be an amazing feature to have it in the C that way no more need for people to pull over and check emails, read or send txt etc. In my books it will make the vehicle much more appealing for me to buy it and have it for a long time since I'm waiting for the iphone 5.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know about Siri or iOS 6, I only have an iPhone 4 (no Siri) and iOS 5. With my current setup, I can launch the voice commands on my iPhone by holding down the home button, and the rest happens over the car's speaker and mic.

I doubt they would make our current voice command button automatically launch the iPhone's voice commands (not without a software update anyway), but even without it, you should be able to do everything with Siri hands free with the exception of actually launching Siri, which will require you to hold down the home button.

Not to detract to the previous discussion, but is there a way for Toyota to change how any button (voice as stated by the OP, or call button in my C2) sends bluetooth commands to the iPhone. I have found that Siri can be activated via the the home button, holding down the button the included headset, or clicking a button on some bluetooth headsets.

I have a developer build of iOS6, and I am sorry to report that as of now, Siri can not be activated with the buttons on the steering wheel. I'm not sure we'll see this feature added anytime soon. Toyota ties the voice commands button to Entune- allowing the driver to search maps, make calls, book reservations, etc. There would be user confusion if this button served both Entune and Siri. I could see them mapping either the answer or hang up buttons to do this- maybe you hold one down for a few seconds- but it's unlikely.

As Cornflakes noted- activating Siri on your iPhone works well- her voice comes through your car's speakers and you talk into your car's mic. There are other devices that allow you to activate Siri remotely- headphones, bluetooth headsets, even some watches like 'Pebble.' If you must have this feature, it would be fairly easy to mount a remote on your steering wheel.
