US vs EU 05 model differences

    I've been having a look at the assortment of extra parts available for the 05 Prius, especially after reading some posts.
    This in turn makes me want to know what are the exact differences between the US and EU versions?
    The EV switch is the obvious one.
    Then there is the issue of the disk brakes (I can't believe the US model doesn't have them).
    I noticed an online shop selling a rear spoiler; I have one on my 05 - this too is not standard on the US cars?
    What else?

    You can get some idea of the differences by comparing the items in the manual for cars with right-hand drives and left-hand drives. Those sold in the UK and presumably the same as EU models are of course right-hand drive. One difference which comes to mind is that my UK 2005 has only one 12v outlet (hidden in the centre console) but I think US models have two. I think my wheel trims are different from US, too. I'll have a closer look tomorrow and maybe attach a pic of the wheels to compare.

    You are correct about the two 12v outlets (we have one right under the glove compartment in addition to the one in the center console). Both wheels and tires are different on the North American version, 185/65/15 as opposed to the 195/60/16 on the European version. We also do not get the EV switch and rear wheels disk brakes. The high end models have Xenon HID headlights on the US (but not the Canadian) version.

    I thought it was 195/55R16.

    There are two types of spoiler. Type B (extended version) is only available in Japan on the Touring models.

    Italy doesn't get cruise control
    UK doesn't get SKS
    Intelligent Parking Assist is now available in Europe

    Will take some pics later (it's too darn cold now, hehe) and post' em here.
    I also forgot that I have what seems to be an empty slot for another radio in the central console... Why was that done?
    Ain't complaining... I just have to find some "useful use" for it :)

    Uncle GroOve,

    I am a Swiss living in the US with a new 2006 Prius that I hope to take back home with me if I go back to Switzerland one day. I hope to find answers as to what I will be able to reprogram to make it a Swiss Prius.
    It came programmed with miles and Farenheit degrees. The speedometer displays Miles Per hour by default, but here in the US we get a dashboard mounted switch (next to the emergency lights switch) to toggle between MPH and Km/h. It only applies to your speed, not the trip odometers A and B. It also has no effect on mileage, which here is displayed in MPG instead of l/100 km in Switzerland.
    I also think that the turn signal that is built into the lights is orange here, and looks all white on toyota.ch. I don't know if it is just the bulb inside or more than that.
