My 2012 GIII is due for its first service at 5k but when I look up the manual, basically it's just inspections and tire rotation (which I don't mind doing every 10k). Is it ok for me just to reset the minder and wait for 10k to bring it in? I know it's free but takes time and effort to travel to dealer. I just don't see any problem with such a new car. I just want to make sure I don't void the warranty or have some unknown consequences. I am not driving in any severe condition at all. How about the other services down the road? Anyone just simply bring your car in every 10k instead?
    Thanks!

You can skip the 5K service and not void your warranty. However, it is better to rotate the tires between 5,000 and 7500, than at 10,000 miles, especially the low quality OEM tires that wear at a relatively fast rate. At 10,000 miles, the OEM tires may have uneven wear that rotation at that point will not correct. The result can be increased tire noise and loss of tread life.

C' mon .... it takes 45 minutes if you wait.

Just do it. Is it really that big a deal? What if they find something wrong?

Thanks! Unfortunately with a toddler and a preschooler, life is busy. Toyota quality may not be as good as before but not so bad to break by 5k, otherwise I wouldn't even consider buying it.:)
I see the hour out of office being wasted by just waiting around.

I waited till 10k to go to the dealer to get tires rotated, oil changed. But i did check all fluids and looked the car over including under the hood every few thousand, so i did the 5k check myself minus the tire rotation. I got almost 50k out of my stock tires with even wear.
