15K Service & Nothing to Fix

    After decades of owning GM cars (dad was a GM retiree) and seldom having a service appointment without a list of problems that would often not be fixed, it's refreshing to own Toyota vehicles. I have a 15K service visit for the Prius scheduled for tomorrow with no items to fix. I had a 5K service visit for my Lexus GS today with only a very occasional issue of the radio turning itself off when iPod communication gets confused.

    That's why you see so many new GM vehicles on the roads every year because the old ones are parked in the scrap yard in front of the crusher [​IMG]

    Me = bought one of the first 2010s - VIN 16xx. Delivered June 2009. Now have 28K miles. Service - oil changes. ABS software upgrade. Replace driver door power window motor, a slight grind noise. Adjust power lumbar in driver seat. Dealer has been great. First Hybrid for me. 3 years and love it. I'm not really a "Greenie" but wanted the latest technology and liked the look of the Gen 3. And the almost 50mpg...nice. I drive it like a regular car.
    Another topic - I HATE that Toyota marketing decided on such stupid monikers for the Prius. v, c and.. what is it, Liftback? How about some originality and NAMES? But I digress.

    Heh, I don't like the liftback term much either, but it's what Toyota seems to use. c is ok. For v, err, if they only could've picked some other letter of the alphabet to avoid confusion w/the (2010) Prius V.

    I agree that you should get used to it. My GenII went 150,000 before I started having issues with the seat belt clicking into place. That was my only problem. :)

    I noticed on my ScanGauge that my battery voltage was 11.3v after my car sat for 3 weeks. It took about 50 or so miles of driving to bring it up to 14.2v. Me thinks the battery would be toast in the spring after winter storage. Gonna have to install a battery maintainer before I put it away for the winter.

    I just had my 13th oil change for my 2010 Prius III at 135k miles. Until now, this car never had any items to fix. Even the brake pads are original. The only things that have been replaced are tires(once), windshield blades refills(a few times), and air-filters(twice). The car still runs like new.

    I am sure you will enjoy your trouble-free car as much as I do with my car. Good luck!

    Just got a Prius and was surprised to learn that there is not much "replace" performed at the scheduled maintenances. On my 4Runner, factory maintenance required all kinds of "replace" including replacing spark plugs every 30,000 miles.

    What year was the 4Runner? Over time, it seems like plugs have been able to last a lot longer, possibly due to cleaner combustion and platinum plugs.

    My 91 Camry needed new plugs at 60K miles (IIRC). For my 02 Maxima, IIRC, the interval was ~105K miles.

    4Runner was a 2006. I don't think the 4Runner actually needed new spark plugs, as in the spark plugs went bad, but their was some fine print on the maintenance schedule saying that they needed to be replaced for the emissions control warranty.
