I thought I would post this if anyone was interested in auto detailing.

I own a small detail shop in MN and since I just picked up a 2012 Prius, I figured it would be relevant and I could post short videos or write ups about different aspects on detailing (Prius spacific). Perhaps I could answer specific questions members had on auto detailing. I have used a lot of different products over the years. It's also fun to see what other people are doing.

What is the best way of cleaning grease and dirt marks off of the overhead liner, without it fading, pilling, etc.?
My sunroof was replaced under warranty (the rubber edging on the glass and wind deflector had deteriorated and separated), and though they did a nice job in the replacement, they did leave the interior a little grubby.

Headliners are so finicky. Those are usually a "don't touch" thing. You can use a product like folex. Just spray it on and rub in with your finger. It's a no rinse cleaner.

I can always pick it up if your interested. I also know a great detailer in the cities, however I think he is at least 6-8 months out for scheduling.

This is always my favorite question because so many options exist.

A great product is BlackFire Wet Diamond. Super easy to use and lasts months. Others that are good are Chemical Guys Black Light, Optimum Opti-Seal, Pinnacle, Menzerna Power Lock, Aquartz reload, Wolf's Chemicals and the list goes on.

If you want protection that really lasts and actually adds thickness you can use something like Opti-Coat. It can last years.

I also usually follow a sealant up with a quality wax like Chemical Guys Lava, Pinnacle Souvern, Lusso Oro or Swissvax. Many others exist. The wax mostly adds some serious depth.

Also, forgot to mention.. Don't forget to seal or wax your rims. While Prius's don't have massive brake dust buildup like BMW, Benz or Audi, it's still good to do.

I had already ordered Klasse High Glaze Sealant, so am going to try that first to see how I like it. After that, I'll consider some of your recommendations down the road.

I'm 35 miles north of the cities. We should get a semi local group together some time before winter sets in.

Mother-f*(^ing co*&su*(ing maguire's spray wax! cloudy day so I washed and clay'ed the new black prius. (first time since buying in april). washed it twice, dried it, clayed it, rinsed it, dried it..sprayed on some Maquire's spray wax....instantly cloudy and swirled. half an hour of buffing got the hood to a point where the wife MIGHT not notice it when the sun comes out.
I've used this spray wax with great results on my red ford, obviously it sucks on black!
So now I need to strip or re-wax to get the hood looking right. suggestions are welcomed!

Interesting. I used the Meguiar's quick spray wax and had no problems on my black 4runner.
