Can someone confirm if my impressions are correct? From what I can tell, the remote A/C start function does not work if the sunroof if open (either slid back or the back popped up).

I live in Phoenix, where the daily high temp is 110 degrees this time of year. I've got the solar panel option and that help keep the car cool, but I would like to pop the sunroof while parked to help further. It seems when I do that and try to remotely start the A/C, it never turns on. The car beeps and the lights blink, so I know it received the signal from the keyfob. If the sunroof is completely closed, it does seem to work.

Hmmm..... I've never thought to leave the roof open and run AC. Seem counter intuitive to the purposes of both. The interior van (that is driven by the solar roof) works to keep the interior temp as low as possible....and usually as close to the temp outside.

I'll try to replicate your experience and report back. My gut is saying that the roof open is a breach of the security provided by double clicking the locking mechanism before pushing the AC button.

All of this is more a hypothesis than fact.

When it stops raining I'll check it out.

Yeah, well it's so hot here that the solar powered fan still doesn't get the interior air down to the same temp as the outside. And really, with the remote AC only running for a max of 3 minutes, that won't do it either. But every little bit helps.

I know that the car does consider the open sunroof a security breach, because when I open it, turn off the car, and open the door, the car beeps to let me know something is still open.

If you have a remote start system installed it can start the car and run the A/C with or without the sun roof open.

I have a second remote starter that doesn't time out. Works great and was a cheap add on. If I were in your shoes with those temps I'd go that route.....then again I already did. Lol.
