3rd fuel up. A little disappointed with my fuel economy

    Yeah, as others have said, economy drops off precipitously as you get to the faster highway speeds. This is why I get really nice economy on slow BC highways (85-100 km/h) and it gets noticeably worse when I cross the border and speed limits are 75 mph. It's the wind resistance - our little city critters are less aerodynamic than the liftback.

    My trip home from work, i never go above 40mph, but it's always a very casual drive up the hill. It's just very steep. I wish there was a way to pre warm up the engine, while i was at work.

    Install an engine block heater, but you'd need to be able to plug into an electrical outlet where you're parked.

    i now get after some breaking in , i now get about 47 mpg now average at 3700 miles

    when you say don't over use EV mode, do you mean do not press the EV button or drive in the EV section on the Eco Score -Screen

    Don't push the EV button until you learn enough about the hybrid system to know when to use it properly. Other than that just drive the car using normal hypermiling techniques and add in the more complex stuff over time. :)

    Something very important to do! check your tire pressure! When I bought the car they came at 36psi and I increased it to 40-41, I am getting 54mpg freeway, and about 59mpg average. When I drive on flat roads under 40mph I have got up to 80mpg's. You have to learn how to avoid stoping on stop lights by looking ahead of the road and braking gradually to re-generate the battery. Once you break in the engine you will probably get better mileage. If your hills are pretty stiff you might not get much better than 40mpg's but you could make up the difference going down hill and flats if you learn how to drive it correctly.

    Go down to 65mph and you will see a huge differece on fuel economy. I'm getting 50-56mpg with 41psi on the tire pressure.
