Great vacation but now paint worries.

    Chip.jpg BSF.jpg I have a 2012 Prius V and noticed a few weeks ago that I had a piece of paint that had chipped off on the left front bumper area above the parking light. This is odd as almost all my driving is city driving so not much of a chance for gravel or rocks to be thrown up into it with much force. Then we just recently took a 4700 mile round trip from Nebraska to Washington state, even got to take her out on the bonneville salt flats. Encountetred lots of bugs on the trip but can't recall hearing any rocks or gravel. When washing the bugs off I noticed another little chip missing from the area under the right headlight where the lense meets the body. Was just curious if anyone else had been having paint issues. We are scheduled to go into the dealer for our 10,000 mile service and will check with them about possible remedies.

    Pretty normal. Get some touch up paint and a small artist brush. Some buy the clear film that decals to the front end and front side of mirrors. You will never hear the rock. People drive on unpaved drives and get the rocks stuck in the tire treads until they fly out on the highway. Good mudflats on those vehicles would help.

    Not really "paint issues", just normal wear and tears. These are pinpricks, a tiny daub of touch up paint on a toothpick will cover them, then as rj said look into the 3M clear bras. To make the colors more vibrant, manufacturers use black primer under light colors, white primer under dark colors. Sadly this makes every nick stick out!

    +1 on can't hear the rocks hit, unless it hits your front windshield. Toyota does sell a clear bra as an accessory, but you can also find other aftermarket places that sell similar/the same film. They can even do larger areas like a whole hood, whole fender, or even the entire car... The most widespread product is made by 3M as I understand. There is also Avery Dennison nano fusion, with a lifetime warranty as opposed to 3M's 5 yr, but I have had difficulty getting it...
