Does the MFD display seem dim to you?

    I have a 2012 Gen 3 Prius.

The multi function display (MFD) sure seems a lot dimmer than my 2008 Prius. I tried turning it up all the way, too.

Any way to make it brighter? Shouldn't it be pretty bright to start with?

    Thanks,
    G

You can have a dealership set the brightness higher than the default. I did this way back when I first got mine to get more color definition. You can get rid of the backup beeps (set to one only) at the same time if that's annoying.

Thanks. Got the back up beeps disabled via my ScanGauge II.

I found the default setting very dim, but once I turned the contrast *down* a couple of clicks, it became quite a bit brighter and totally satisfactory. I don't know why (a) the factory setting is so dim, or (b) why you have to turn the contrast down to make it better.

Okay, I'll check that, too. Thanks.

When you turned the contrast down, did the colors become more evident? I didn't know there was a contrast control in addition to the (nominally-dealer-controlled) brightness control.

On my 2012 Prius III, you go to "Setup", "General", "Display", and then at the bottom is a Contrast control. I just checked and mine is 3 clicks down from center. Clicking one of the << or >> buttons toggles to Brightness control, which I found to be of very little value. (Or maybe "Display" is available right on the main "Setup" screen. Can't remember. It's up at the top of the screen. )

As for the color becoming more evident, I do not know, maybe. It looks way better in general, that's for sure.

That helped. Now looks great during the day and way too dim in night mode.

    You just can't win...

    Unfortunately, this isn't present on a 2010.

Huh. I haven't noticed any problem in night mode. Exactly what settings are you running now?
