Hi guys, I need help with my second generation Prius. Its a 2009 and recently it was involved in a right side collision so I took on the job of working on it myself. The accident wasn't too bad but the Inverter engine took a hit and caused the abs plug to be destroyed from impact. Since then I replaced the ABS but after doing so I cant get the ABS VSC and BRAKE lights off. It seems that the computer doesnt read the new ABS system. When I replaced it I made sure it had the same part number. I didnt replace the wire harness though. just rewired the plug going from the harness with the end of the replacement plug. I have yet to have the ABS work or turn on when I tried to air bleed the brakes with my obd II scanner. PLEASE HELP.

Stan Ski. Check with your local Toyota service department. I had all the dashboard lights on my 2008 suddenly go on, and the a/c, brakes, and steering died a couple of weeks ago. It was a bad inverter coolant pump. Toyota paid for it all, including the tow. I am angry that they didn't issue a recall and the car died in a very dangerous place (not that there's a safe place for one's car to die.) Anyhow, definitely check this out. Good luck.

Since then I replaced the ABS This is the brake actuator, correct?

Can your scanner recalibrate the system, may take a dealership visit.

When I replaced my brake actuator, I went to the dealership with the same lights, who told me the ECU wasn't communicating with the replaced part and recommended a different actuator. Since my replacement actuator was a year newer (ebay), and I heard the actuator run when the car was initially turned on, I bought a replacement ECU on ebay of the same year and it worked when turned on, no lights. Probably had some luck with this repair, but the cost of replacing the ECU was so much less then the dealership quote, I had to try it. Your case is complicated with the wiring fix, but I would wonder if the ECU was damaged in the accident.
Jumping the 4-13 OBD-II pins to reset the ECU may help, didn't help in my situation, worth trying though.
Check out numerous other posts on replacing brake actuator for more ideas/info.

Yes I referred the ABS system to the actuator- northwichita. I tried re-calibrating the system but was unsuccessful. So I ended up dropping it off at the dealership today. Hoping the cost doesn't turn out too expensive.
