Losing Time

    Mine loses about a minute a month. Oh well.

    Nice, let's go with that. I was also thinking, the physics inclined among us could perhaps explain a different "ahead of its time" - the discrepancy using Special Relativity. But usually this means we are talking about traveling at very high speeds, an attribute not typically ascribed to our beloved Prii.

    On my PIP, the clock isn't nearly as accurate as the one on my former 2005 Prius--it was very accurate for years, especially compared to the current PIP clock, which loses time much more quickly.

    Yes, that is what I'm seeing too. It is extremely likely that the timing is governed by a quartz crystal oscillator, but the tolerance on crystal could easily be as bad as 20 ppm or more, which would give rise to this sort of error. Perhaps Toyota tried to save a few pennies by using a looser spec on the oscillator.

    Do Toyota engineers read Priuschat?

    i double checked mine. it's one minute slow and may have been that way when i got it. i wonder why they're not all the same?
