I have three days to get a Prius because I only have a rental car covered by insurance until Friday. Unfortunately, with hurricane Issac, gas prices in Cincinnati are between $4 -$4.25. Not a whole lot of wiggle room to be had. I was able to get one dealer to agree on $23465. OTD it will be just over $25k. This dealership does provide fre oil changes for as long as you own your vehicle. What do you all think?

well, here is what I am doing and I suggest you same. Use carwoo.com and search for about 200 miles from your place in dealers site. Pay attention to their internet pricing specials! I just found a bunch in orlando /daytona trying to unload the cars by Friday (8/31) for $22K price range. The same dealers never bother to reduced a dime from 24K price.

Another tip! Don't look for large dealer, look for a small one with lot of inventory. You will get it. Submit offers using different name/phone numbers so they don't try to match you. If they dealer ask less (than 10) prius in stock, don't bother reaching out to them. It is a waste of time.

I am excited to pickup a car for $22K by friday. I have to drive about 200 miles to get it, but the savings is about $3,500 ! I am sending in credit card authorization hold by fax to the dealer after they sent me the buyer order today.

Was there anything else in the deal that allowed the dealer to make money - a trade in, financing, extended warranty? That seems like an incredible deal. MSRP on a Prius 2 with no options is $24,760. That would be $3260 off MSRP without any of the extras. The lowest advertised price in my area (Portland, OR) is $2187 off MSRP. So that is why I wonder if there was something in the deal that allowed the dealer to give such a large discount on the price of the car.

Nothing!. I financed through my credit union for 1.49% - 36 months
Infact this price is still valid this dealer. I expanded my search to 300 miles and able to get a buyers order from this dealer MIKE ERDMAN TOYOTA NEW GROUP | NEW 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS TWO 1223 | MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA | Stock: 41182

There are 3 more dealers in that area with the same price. The rule of thumb is, the more the older stock they have, the price is lower. Don't waste your time with the dealer who has less than 10 cars in stock.

PM Me, I will send you my buyers order.

Use carwoo.com (with multiple aliases) Search for your car in washington state, promise them you will pickup the car next day. Even better, tell them you will give your deposit of $500 by credit card authorization and ask them for buyers order(invoice) for financing through your own bank. They cannot charge you any money until you take delivery of the car.

My total out the door price is $23,260 including of sales tax.

Purchased 2012 Prius 3 (Winter Grey w/ misty grey) on 9/3/12 at Hanlees Hilltop Toyota in Richmond California. Total OTD price was $26,050 (I live in a county with 8.25% tax rate), which I financed 100% with Toyota's 1.9% for 60-months. All negotiations were done via email, and the whole process was very pleasant. This is my first Prius, and I'm loving it so far.

Thanks for the info. I don't need the order, I just wanted to see if it was a cash price or there were other parts of the deal where the dealer made profit to make up for a loss on the price of the car. I unsuccessfully tried to buy a Prius Plug-in Base model for $2000 under MSRP for cash this past weekend. I know the plug-ins are not as plentiful as the other cars, but I figured since some local dealers were advertising $2000 under MSRP for the advanced plug in model and others were advertising about $2200 under MSRP for the regular Prius model 2, that there was some possibility of getting $2000 off on the base plug in. I figured the end of the month and the current sales cycle would be the best time to try. All of the dealers had the same reaction - they showed me the paperwork with the invoice and the holdback and explained that they would be losing money at that price. Fine, but if that is true, how did a dealer sell you your car for such a large loss in a cash deal? There must be some other incentive that allows it.

Here is another thing I found out about the financing ( I didn't use toyota finance). Apparently there is a financing option with higher interest rate (I believe 5-6%) where you have to stick with toyota (toyota south east finance) for 6 months before you refinance. The dealer mentioned they get up to $3000 rebate and they can offset that price to you.

Hi JAYSONE. I'm looking to purchase a Prius like yours. It looks like you got a great deal. I just wanted to know what the MSRP of your car was and what dealership did you buy it at? Was it an online/email quote you got?

MSRP was $28,305 from El Monte.

I had a limited number of dealers agree to participate in a bid proposal.

For more info you can pm me (y)

Im in GA so things may be quite different than cali, but I paid $22345.00 out the door! for my 2012 prius 3 with/out leather and nav. so If you take out taxes $1400, and mis dealer fees it was closer to 20k.

my dealer is a close friend and he said there is HUGE mark up in the prius' thats how he was able to knock off almost 5k from my listed MSRP of $25,500. and still make enough money for management to approve it.

Well, I'm not going to set any records in this forum, but I was happy with my deal: Prius II in my preferred color w/ floor & cargo mats and a few little extras I didn't have to technically pay extra for: 22.7k pre-state sales tax and title fees. ~24.5 OTD
