Sounds like Dick had the right answer, more or less... though that the dealer would do such a shoddy job of installing and/or uninstalling an alarm is downright frightening!

 

When the wife and I drove Subarus, the alarm option is just a box I can buy after the fact. Each Subaru had a plug for the box. Secure the box (2 bolts) and plug it in. Works right away and with the existing keyless entry remotes. I wouldn't be surprised if I'd learn that the box only contains a shock sensor, and that plugging it in just activates the alarm programming in the ECU.

You should go back to the original dealer and make them give you free oil changes for life.

 

I'd just call them and tell them what happened (other dealer figuring out what happened, and you being stranded more than once in your new car). Tell them that the other dealer basically said it was all their fault and how unhappy you are with them. Let them make an attempt to make it right.

 

I've had a few alarms installed in new cars over the years. It is really hard to find an audio/alarm installer that does not try to destroy your car. One place I went to installed an Autopage alarm in my brand new White 240SX Ragtop and f'ed the car up so bad I ended up trading it in on a 240SX Coupe. That was great car.
After that never again will I have an aftermarket alarm installed.

But you need to have someone who knows what there doing peek at the 12 volt battery connections and see what they did cause they had to get in there and connect to that battery. See how bad they butched it up. Before you get stuck on the road again because your dealer sounds like a real douche.

Also if you dig what everyone's saying on the bottom right of the post box it says "Like". Just click that and the poster can see you liked what they said. Its quick & easy.

That's too bad. I had an aftermarket alarm installed in my 02 Maxima by The Good Guys, when they were still around. Unfortunately, they blew some power lock control module (possibly the BCM) during the install. They had call me about it and had to pay to replace it. They also gave me some of my installation $ back. I'm sure they lost money on me.

Alarm otherwise had no problems before I sold the car. I got the alarm out of worry since someone w/the same generation of Maxima a few blocks from my apartment at the time got his stock Maxima wheels stolen. His car was up on blocks (he posted about it on maxima.org). I drove over there and confirmed.

I had an aftermarket alarm installed in my 04 350Z for the same reason but by Magnolia Hi-Fi. No issue other than a tilt sensor that kept causing false alarms, so they removed it and gave me back $ on that. I sold the car last year. No trouble w/the alarm or install.
