Hi there. My dad recently backed into my front right side. There was very little exterior damage but it still had a dent. I took out the dent and checked under for any visible damage and didn see any. Over the past 3 months something has developed a little worse. It started as a small little crunch on the right side when going over speed bumps. Now on turning left hard or stuff like that and I hear it crunch. Its worse with more weight. It sounded like plastic but there's no loose plastic or anything. Does anybody have any idea where the sound may be comin from. It's 05 Prius with 150k and I dont think there were any replaced shocks done. I bought it used. Thanks in advance.
(ps I wrote this from my phone so there are probably a lot of mistakes. )

Well its probably the cvt joint on that side. Don't know if the wheel was backed into though as the wheel bearing may be bad but usually if the complaint is "on turning" that exacerbates an issue with the constant velocity u joint.

But see if you can jack the front up and look under there. Check the rubber boots on the cvt joints. There's 4 two inner and two outer. See if there intact and not ripped. And btw, your about 50,000 miles overdue for new cv joints anyway.
Also make sure the bearing in the trans is ok. Check where the inner cv joint enters the trans case on both sides of the trans case & make sure no red fluid dripping out right there down the side of the trans case. Thats trans fluid leaking there.
Your about 100,000 miles past due on new trans fluid too.

You may want to look at your fender liner (black plastic surrounding wheel and behind fender) to see if there are any signs of the wheel coming in contact with it.

Is it possible the wheel bearing is so worn out that its wobbling that bad its rubbing the fender?

I would imagine he would be complaining about a lot more if that were the case. Anything is possible, fixing it through a computer screen is't all that easy.

It's not the black fender. I checked. It's still all there and connected.
The outside metal is a little bent but I think it's clearing any par of the wheel. I'm gonna recheck the boots on the cv joints.
There's not so much wobbling or vibration while driving. (except I was driving like 80 on the interstate and it did feel a little back and forth. It was very littl though. I slowed down and 5 min later I was back up to 80 and there was no problems. I'm assuming it was the wind. )
It's really ink when I go over bumps or hub dips or rises in the road. It's only when the shocks compress that I hear a crunch. I checked out the shocks to see any apparent damage. I didn't see much without inspecting closely. The rubber cone (I think boot) looked fine. There was a torn rubber protector (I think the one that protects from dirt). The hydrolic rod looks pretty clean though.
