I was originally looking at getting a Prius Two because it's the least expensive one I can get ;) However, I am thinking about getting a Prius Three because I want the backup camera. I do not however, care for the Entune and apps, etc. Especially because what I am reading is that this system will use my cell phone data plan when I enter the car! Is this true?

Can I manage the settings on Entune to not use my data... or not be active unless I choose an app or something? I mean.. all I want is the backup camera, and maybe navigation if we travel. I do not want to go over my teeny-tiny data plan because of a new car!

Not sure how this system works, so if you do - please let me know :)

Entune will not use your data connection on your cell phone unless you connect your phone via USB and click "Ok" to the prompt that informs you that Entune will be utilizing your phone's data connection.

Navigation does not use your phone's data connection although the traffic app will...

Just get a 2012 II and add the camera as someone has done here. That will save you $$$ for a better sound system.

this is VERY interesting... I was trying to configure a Prius II and add a camera but it wasn't an option. This page here: Toyota Prius Hybrid - 2012 Models: Prius Two, Prius Three, Prius Four, Prius Five says it's not available as an option with camera. Backup camera is only available on the III. I would definitely prefer to save $$ by getting the II and adding the camera somehow if it were an option. However, the difference between the II and III is just under $1300. Do you know how I can find out how much it is to add the camera to the II?

The add a camera option is a do it yourself one, not dealer available, it can be done, there are posters here who have done it, but to me it seems not for the faint of heart or the electrically challenged, I imagine you could find an independant shop willing to try it, good luck. I'm guessing if you had to hire it done it would probably cost in the $500 neighborhood, you would probably be better of dropping the extra $1300 on the III, imho.

Agreed. The difference in cost is not worth the hassle to me. (y) Thanks for the clarification. I didn't understand that the above poster was talking about aftermarket camera install.
