Thanks again for the info. I will open the cover and once I locate the interlock leads, I will try to open the circuit at other locations to make it safer to work on it.
I have another question for you and/or anybody who can help.

I have a Duratrax Intellipeak 4120 NiCD and NIMH adjustable charger up to 6.5 amps rate. It will charge up to 7 cells, 8.4 volts. It can also discharge at 1A for batteries less thatn 1500mah and 10A for more than 1500mah.
Could I just use that charger to top off/peak charge each battery pack so that they all have the same charge levels? If so at what rate? I know the ideal thing would be to balance all the blocks, but I don't plan on going through all that, especially since I don't have the tooland/or time. I would like to get the vehicle running asap.
