Thanks for you quick reply (as u did in other forum) i will ask to mpatech for updates. But i am sure they would not reply. Do you think that mcu update is reversible? if i get the original one (hope to find on the web) then try to update. is it possible to go back. thank you again

It's possible to go to any version forward or back if you have that FW. That's the problem.

Italian RR reseller won't give me any FW, they say I have to call Chevrolet Assistance.
Chevrolet says I need to call RR reseller. F.... them off.

Tell him, he's RESPOSIBLE to support his customers. And if a customer needs a new FW to fix any bug, he has to request at RR !

Here's some info on how the RoadRover language system works.
There are in fact 24 languages available in the unit.

Languages can be packaged together based on a region pack code.
    See table below:
    language-pack.jpg

You can select which language pack you want to appear in the menu Apps->Options->Skins:Language
by changing the parameter "language_pack" defined in the \Static Store\I9\CONFIG.ini file:
By default, this unit is shipped with the line:

    language_pack= string,"EU"

But you can actually pick anything from the list of packages above.
Don't worry about memory; all the languages are loaded anyway even if you pick a smaller set.

So if you or one of your passenger would prefer a different set of languages, now you have the choice!
Now it's probably easier to just put "ALL" if you want to have access to everything...

As always this unit has a lot more to offer!

    Enjoy!

Here is a new version of the RRUIEditor (v3).
    Here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/63503986/RRUIEditor-v3.zip

This version now supports ALL languages.
This means you can view and test your new skins in ANY of the 23 languages available.
    Like this:
    editlang.jpg
Additionnally, you can select the language for the tool itself (limited to 5 though).
    Like this:
    editlang2.jpg
The good thing about this is that we can now control the packaging of all the language strings.
Next step: I will write a tool so we can EDIT any of those language strings.
This way we should be able to fix those damn spelling errors and missing translations for good.

    Coming up soon...

Job done; we now have a way of editing any skin string for any language in a clean way!
And without having to patch binaries!

That's about 22,000 strings in 24 languages if you want to edit everything! :D

You can find the super-package here:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/63503986/LANGsystem-v1.zip

    Contents:
    - skin editor RRUIEditor v4 (was adapted for the new language system);
    - a new tool: a language strings parser RRStringsTool;
    - a new editable lang.txt file that contains all the strings for all languages;
    - a new lang.dll and lang.dat for the RR unit.

Here's a picture of how the new language system works:
    lang.jpg
To test the system, I fixed all the English misspellings I could find.
Also, I completed the French translation which was not 100% done by RR.
So if you like my fixes; just use it as is; no need for editing.
Quick install: just copy lang.dll and lang.dat to your \StaticStore\I9 folder and reboot.

Otherwise, give the RRStringTool a try; it's easy to fix any language.
But please take the time to read the docs before using it!
There are a couple of traps to avoid but it's really easy to use anyway.
Everything seems to run fine on my unit and I also tested it on other UI shells.

Please report any problem if you see any!

    Enjoy!

    Bulle,

Thanks so much. You've probably already stated this, but is there any documentation for this editor that explains how to get your own modded skins onto the head unit?

    Thanks,

    John

Check out first post: Ottonavi HU: How to customize (a bit) the UI | PriusChat
Pretty much everything that we know is overthere.
Basically, what you have to do is:
    - use RRUITool to extract art from some existing skin (*.rrui)
    - edit the art using Photoshop
    - use RRUIEditor to design your new skin
    - copy the new skin over to the unit in \StaticStore\I9 ; reboot the unit
    - select the skin from the menu Apps->Options->Skins

Added the subfolder "Skins" to path.
2nd way is to store a new skin file just into your memory stick or sd card and select it from screen Apps / Options / System by button "Browse". After confirm with OK the unit will copy it self into the correct folder "Skins"

I have one of these head units for sale on Craigslist, I am in the chicago area, but I will ship it. Just contact me through the forum or check out my craigslist posting. Ottonavi OEM Head Unit for 2010-12 Toyota Prius. It has everything you need to hook it up in 15 minutes or less. Still have the box and manual and the stylus that ottonavi gives you with it., and obviously all the wiring etc... that you need to hook it up. I have a license plate back up cam I can throw in. All you will need is the long yellow video cable that would go from the rear hatch to the back of the unit to hook that up. It is just like buying it new from Ottonavi but with a less expensive price tag.

I just bought one myself... This really is a plug and play unit... No cutting, no splicing... Just plug it in... And if your worried about removing the dash.. omg... it couldn't be simpler... you will only need a plastic putty knife and one small socket to install...

Ok, Figure I'll post this question here. Been looking atound the www a bit with some luck. Maybe some of the genius' here already have an answer.

Looking to add a Serial port to the Ottonavi.. Actually looking to hook-up my OBD reader..
Could be any of the following methods
    1)add serial port
    2)add USB serial port
3)add USB OBD reader (Prolific chip)
    4)add USB OBD reader (FTDI)

Well you get my drift.... I gotta believe that some of you have had some luck.... Any leads, methods, etc are welcome.... BIG Thanks....

Ottonavi is a WinCE 6.0 ARM platform....

I guess you could try this software: WinCE Patch
Not free but apparently it supports FTDI driver, USB OBD and TMC in iGo.
This is in fact a customized version of the free package MioPocket.
I believe MioPocket has also support for FTDI and OBD.
Check post #1 for link to this software.
Also, you can probably just extract the drivers or find them somewhere on the net.

In my case, I bought and installed WinCEPatch; works great.
But I never actually tried the OBD features.
Because for OBD, I'm using a Bluetooth dongle with my Android phone.

Let us know if you find anything interesting!

Which WinCE Patch package did you purchase?
    I see 3 for WinCE 6

But it doesn't matter because if you buy, make sure you tell them it's a RoadRover for Prius.
They (Petrut) built a special version for the Ottonavi (I helped him a little bit for testing on our unit).
And ask him the question about OBD if you want to be sure; you can post your questions in the blog section before buying.
The guy is really knowledgeable and quick to answer normally.
