Just so everyone knows, you can now turn the touchscreen off in the 06. :)

You can turn it off, and it is still there to help if you want to change a radio station or modify the AC. I love how it works. The NAV will run if it is programmed and the screen is off. The little lady in the dash still talks.

I really wish Toyota would give us a software update so we could have those neat upgrades. I'd like some prettier buttons, pictures and no beeping!

I tought we could be beepless now. I like the feedback so I don't lean too hard on the $4200 screen.

Higher resolution isn't a software upgrade, though...

The touchscreen beep doesn't bother me. I find it is usually good feedback to know when my button presses have been "heard" without having to look and verify that the right things have happened. As soon as I put my finger on the button, I can look back to the road without a problem.

I agree - the beeps provides audible feedback without needing to take your eyes off the road.

On that idea, like it is illegal to use a hand-held cell phone while driving, could the law one day outlaw using the MFD while driving? Food for thought!
