I would like to know if it's possible to enable the touchscreen while driving. I work in my car, made 200 km per days and over (I love the Hybrid tech for that) but workin in 2012 means communication and have to dialed the extension directly in the phone are'nt really more secured.

I've talk with Toyota on that and no significant answers. It is possible to update the system, changes the flags, anything possible to fix that :(.

    Thanks

    Martin L.

I have CPRaudio's override in my 2010 Prius. It is an easy install (only cut one wire), takes a couple of hours, and works really well.

Hummmm, what is kidding me is the car waranty. I'm not sure if I cut the wire, the Toyota Waranty will remain avaliable.... It's a 2012, so if I got somes troubles with the car, Toyota can claim this and not repair the car.

It's the same thing for my Head Light, I want to install a HID kit, but remove all the cover scare me a bit. I'm really not a mecanical man. anyway thanks for your reply ;)

Yes, you plug it into the back of your stereo/nav unit. Rodney has documented some semi-DIY steps here:

Trust me, I'm not very technically skilled and tremble at the thought of cutting a wire, so this was the preferred method for me. Taking the stereo unit out was the most time consuming part for me cause I didn't have a phillips screwdriver long enough to reach the screws...

To be on the safe side, I would say use a screwdriver with a 8-10" shaft (not including the handling). Any shorter and you run the risk of the handle not clearing the nav unit.

Here are some notes on how the unit works because I don't think Rodney touched on this in his write-up:
If you don't need the override, you keep the unit turned off. Nav and other other functions operate as normal, meaning you are locked out of most functions above that cutoff speed.
When you do need to override, you turn the unit on. This allows you to input/use the touchscreen without being locked out. However, the nav will lose track of you while the unit is on. This may sounds worse than it seems cause I don't have any other way of describing it. Your map will still show but your pointer will just go straight instead of following the road/street. I guess one way of describing it is that it takes you "offline" momentarily while you have the override on.
Once you're done inputting/using the override, turn it off and everything reverts back to normal. If you're inputting an address location, the location should have saved and the nav unit should start to direct you. If it didn't save over, go into your DEST submenu, look in the recent location folder and it will show there. Select and be on your way again.

I was a bit skeptical at first and my wife questioned the purchase to no end, but it's come in handy many times and I don't hear her gripe about it anymore... =)
