What I got extra...

There were a few things I got extra when I picked up my car today.

My dealer offers free state inspections for as long as I own my car. He did mention that while in the past the Prius had been exempt from emissions inspection that law (at least in PA) has been revised and a Prius will now be required to get an emissions test each year ( my expense).

A nice leather case for all of my Prius manuals. In future to be called my Prius bible cover.

I think the dealer who he swapped with for my car had added protector trim for the doors and wheel wells. At least I think that is what it is called. Not sure if it is a Toyota accessory or an after market thing or if it just comes with the 2005 pkg #6. The salesman seemed to be surprised that it was on the car and said they had not charged any extra for that.

I had wanted and was willing to pay for the floor/cargo mats - this car came with the cargo net as well and the emergency aid kit. So these were extras that I was not willing to pay for but came with the negotiated price. It also had the rear bumper applique that I would not have paid for but was thrown in also.

The three year roadside assistance is part of the 2005 price - a nice extra as far as I am concerned because I can drop my AAA+ coverage for 3 years.

The dealership did not pressure me to buy any extras when I signed all the paperwork - so all in all a good experience.

The edging protectors are a dealer-installed (not very often) option. They must be from "X".

The bumper applique is "worth" $65.

    Not bad!

Quick question regarding your cargo net. Did you have to drill two holes (one on each side of the trunk to secure the net?) My uncle has a 1st gen Prius and he gave me the cargo net he bought (because it was for the 04 model). I was going to install it over the weekend, but then realized I had to drill holes to secure the net. Just want to make sure it's indeed necessary before the drilling begins. Thanks.

It was necessary for me to drill for the verticle net. Note: make the holes as small as possible or the net will pull loose.

Thanks, MarinJohn. I did a search and found some answers. I will give it a shot this weekend. I don't really have a need for a cargo net, but since I have it, I might as well install it.

Did you go and buy a lottery ticket right after that? I'd say you were having some unbelieveable luck or good karma. I hope you won a few million! B)
