I would like to see an option to turn logging on and off, though it is no big deal to just erase logs from time to time. My drives tend to be long though, so the size does build up, and I don't use them much.

What happens if I change the OBDLog folder attribute to read only? Will the program bork or just fail silently? (I did this to the flash player folder in my home folder, and it prevented it from dropping in those dreaded deathless cookie-like entities.)

Edit: Changing to Read only does not work in Windows, as the attribute only applies to files, apparently not to entire folders. It will let you assign the attribute, but it is ignored.

You can try the read only change and see what happens. It will take some time for me to add the feature. Thanks!

I sugest adding an option for European measurements, like km/h and Celsius degrees, the Engine temperature and other are in F and I can't do conversions while driving.

As a technical question regarding the OBD data cable, I have three options for buying one.
    1. ELM327 compatible interface (a clone may say)
    2. Elmscan5 Compact (the original)
    3. OBD Linx SX which is the most expensive of them all.

The value of the interfaces are in the order of the numbering.

Thanks for the suggestion. km/h option is already implemented. I still need to work on the C/F option.

I have good experience with OBDLink SX and don't have experience with the other two. Feedback from other users says that option 1 and 2 may work, but not guaranteed and maybe slower. Good luck!

Thnaks for the reply, currently the OBDLink SX is out of stock at the local shop, but I think I will order it via eBay, if the shipping is wright. For the Km/h display I will know exactly when I will hook-up the app to the Prius.

No problems with the SX here. The others may be cheaper, but the developers of the SX are available and open to bug fixes, with firmware updates, etc. Potentially better QC as well.

That's my fear, that a clone interface or a cheap one will lack support from manufacturer + I live with the fear that something might go wrong with the car.

And it's worth emphasizing again and again: drive safely, keep eyes on the road, not on the car PC screen!

wow this is a great project! i have a bluetooth obd2 scanner and iv always used the "torque" application to get diagnostic info like this from normal cars but when i connected it to my prius it does not give me all the info i want like your app does...you should look into that application maybe you can port some of the features from this project to it so you dont have to carry your laptop with you to do a quick checkup

anyways thanks for everything this is extremely impressive
