    I just purchased Prius v 2012
Is the extended warranty worth it? 7-years total.

    Canadian dealer wants about $2100

Save yourself alot of money and go thru the warranties offered here.
I'm not sure if they can sell you one since your in Canada but it;s worth a try.
I saved alot of money for a warranty and a service contract and got them for the cost of just the warranty the dealer offered. And it's a Toyota warranty!
I bought my 2011 three on 1/3 and I love it. I sold my 2008 to a friend and he loves his too.

    Good Luck

Don't forget that the dealers do have flex with the warranty. We purchased ours thru the dealer. They originally wanted 1600 for a 5 year/100,000km and we ended up paying 1000. This can be very tricky cross boarder, so purchasing it from the Canadian dealer may be the way to go.

When I bought my Odyssey, I saved several hundred on the Honda extended warranty through a rural dealer who was promoted on the Ody boards. Is there a Canadian Toyota dealer with a similar deal for Prius owners? My dealer is pushing a NationWide warranty (since you get your money back if there are no claims.) During the 70s, my friend bought an extended warranty for his Dodge Omni from the dealer, not Dodge and the dealer was out of business in a year so I'm worried about buying from anyone but Toyota.

Why would you buy ext. warranty if the car is under numerous warranties (basic, hybrid, power, etc). Buy it at the end of basic or power at least.

There will be out of pocket cost with ext warranty; it does not cover repair/service completely. I found it out back in 2000. You are basically locking down today's labor price.

I opted out from it on my last 2 toyotas

I normally wouldn't go for the extended warrantee but adding the warrantee to the financed package kicked it up to where they knocked some points off the interest rate and the warrantee ended up only costing $500, or about one third of the original cost, so I went with it. Just something to consider. Bought the Prius V day before yesterday.

I bought that warrranty because the ECP come with 4 tires covered for the first 3yrs, 50,00km, You can put nail on 4 tires on sidewall to claim that sidewall damage and they have to replace it for you. ECP also cover suspension and majority sensors after your 3yrs/60,00km expired.

plus 4 oil change, tire rotation.
