  1. Good, I like that.

  2. since your mpg improved with an air filter, now check and clean the air throat assy and sensor, simple job. Research, takes 10 minutes.

Alrighty. Full service done to my car.
Oil change with full synthetic 5w30 - 75USD @ corner auto shop (I think I did something wrong here)
Transmission 'complete fluid exchange' drain and fill - Labor 81USD Parts 71USD@toyota dealership.

    They also recommend a
new drive belt....which under my inspection looks fine. 30USD for a new belt and 103USD for labor
    and
Throttle body service 149USD for labor.

    Thoughts?

  4. Only if you are a DIY'er and I have already communicated with you on air throat/throttle body. This and the belt are incredibly simple jobs. But if you want to get soaked $100.00 for a 5 min air throat cleaning, then that's your affair. Changing the belt is a little more complicated, but not much. The belt, for water pump circulation develops minor cracks on the inside but is still good, very tough belt. What you can do is buy a belt and just have it on hand, if and when you may need it. Research Prius Chat Archives! Many people have claimed + 200,000 miles on that belt. R E A D

Spending some cash having a shop do your service is what most people do, it is a little more expensive but doing it yourself and making a newbie mistake can be more expensive.

IF you want to become a little more independent of the shop you can learn to do some of the maintenance items yourself and get to know and appreciate your vehicle a little more. Or you can spend the time with your friends :)

I think you will enjoy the Prius either way, and save a lot of $ on gasoline as well.

Thanks for the great video. I was looking for just the drain plug wrench size and found this! Excellent. Our new to us 2005 has 120K on it, maint. light came on, Amsoil 5w-30 Signature Series oil going in. (25K miles or 1 year OCI.) Car is driven 90 miles round trip, daily, averaging 44mpg right now in this winter weather. Thanks again for the great vid work! 14mm!
