I'm wondering if others who have a 2006 have seen the Low Temperature Indicator (the snowflake in the road icon). I haven't seen it on mine even though the temperature has been below 37 degrees.

The Low Temperature icon looks something like this (clumsy representation):

    /|\
    / | \
    / (*) \

I don't see the icon mentioned anywhere in the manual or Pocket Reference Guide. However, I do see the indicator mentioned in the 2006 Pre-Delivery Service bulletin, (page 8 and 10), where it notes that the indicator should come on everytime in IG-ON.

Any help here? Do you think I have a malfunctioning light?

I can't find the outline anywhere on the panel. Where was it on the '05?
Anyone out there with an '06 who has seen the snowflake low temperature icon appear?

It was next to the "CRUISE" light. I usually see the headlight on symbol, cruise and the snowflake all in a row when I'm driving on the highway at night in MN.

And exactly how far north are you in Michigan? I went to school in Hillsdale and go fishing often in Grayling. South of Hillsdale, between or North of Grayling? I don't mind the winters hate the summers.

I'm considering the Homer Simpson method of dealing with the "Check Engine" light...a piece of electrical tape...

Uhh... if your Check Engine light is on, I don't think it's recommended to ignore that....

No, I'm referring to an episode of the Simpsons where Lisa tells Homer the "Check Engine" light is on. He says, "I'll fix that." He proceeds to put the piece of electrical tape that had fallen off, back over the light. I only thought of doing that to that Outdoor Temperature Light, I live in Minnesota, I know when it's cold out.

I must be an exeption I quite like my snowflake. Near London in the Uk does not appear that often. Inside cabin temperature would also be usefull.

I like the snowflake, too. It doesn't come on very often where I live, so it's nice to be reminded when there is a potential for ice. Also, the U.S. models do have inside cabin temperature readout. Sorry to hear that yours doesn't.

And a third vote for the snowflake. Again, we don't see it very much in Seattle (which may be why I like it.)

I have both an 05 and 06 Prius. The "snowflake" appears on the 05 but not on the 06. It was annoying anyway. Like some other people said, I live in Wisconsin, I don't need a car to tell me when it is cold!

Living in Washington I also like it. But I don't seem to have inside temperature readouts, just outside air temperature... Is that something you only get with the upgradded rear-view mirror or something?

I stand corrected. My display shows the outside temp, and when I push the temperature button up or down, it shows (temporarily) the desired inside temperature.

I read several people's reply that the snowflake symbol is gone in the 2006's, but it still exist on my Canadian 2006 Prius. It appears on my MFD screen, right beside the outside temp number at 3 degrees Celsius (37 degrees F)

My 2006 has the snow flake and I'm glad it does.
It didn't seem that cold that night but when I started up my Prius the snow flake came on. As I was driving home from square dancing I came to an overpass and thought that perhaps I should slow down. I did. The car coming up in the back did not (rear view mirror) and skidded on the ice and hit the side of the overpass. One of the statements he said was he didn't realize it was that cold.

I believe the point is that the 2006 doesn't have the yellow dashboard version of the icon, which stays on continuously at low temperatures. Instead it just has the message that appears on the MFD.
