I recently purchased my Prius C and the salesman spent 2 hours trying to talk me into spending an additional $1,000 on a Xzilon treatment that comes with a 5-year warranty. He told me the orange color would not be the same in 2 years and would fade if I did not purchase this warranty. I'm undecided on what to do and would appreciate it if anyone has purchased this and if it is worth it??

I wish my Prius C4 will change to green in the next 2 years and other colors every 2 years also.

Giving the aggressive salesman two hours of your time about that subject should not have happened. Plus he's spewing garbage out of his mouth. I can imagine what the negotiations and their final push for a service care warranties will be like. If possible, go to another dealer with a more comfortable setting. I did that very thing after the first salesmen was too pushy and used every angle to get me to spend on the upgrades.

A came home with my new Blizzard Pearl paint job, washed the car for dust and enjoyed the car's first wax job for UV protection.

This is why salespeople get awful reputations; pushy pitches with plenty of lying and deceit. If I were in your shoes I'd make a complaint to the BBB and promptly find a new dealership that doesn't treat you like dirt.

All the pushiness stuff aside, I have a Habanero C3 and my dealer never said "boo" about me needing to do anything in particular to protect the color. Don't let them rip you off Robyn!

Thank's so much - Glad I waited to told the guy I would think about it - I figured it was a total rip-off but he sure made it sound like I would regret it and my paint would be discolored after two years!!!!

Tell his manager, though I doubt he'll do anything about it.

IF and WHEN you do make your Toyota purchase, you will be asked to perform multiple online and telepone surveys. Be sure to have the salesmans full name and his story handy. Having a Toyota outside agency keeps the dealership sales depts honest. Also, if you do a goggle on the actual dealership, on the same google page you will be able to see and post reviews pertaining to that dealership. Stories like yours are the reason why most of us dread dealing with car salesmen.

Glad you didn't cave. I was really happy with my dealership. I told them up front, "no gimmicks". No extended warranties, undercoat, paint protection, loan life insurance or "gap" insurance, window etching, etc. etc. The salesman said, "We don't do that here". And they didn't even try. It's so short-sighted to possibly lose a sale and a return customer for $1000.

Amen on this! I went to three dealerships when shopping, told the salespeople at each what I wanted/didn't want out of the experience. And then their behavior after that determined which one I did the final deal with. I have to say though that the FINANCE guy got sort of pushy. It was pretty funny when he went into his schtick and rather matter-of-factly pushed the contract for the extended warranty across the desk and just said very casually "just sign here" after telling me how much. How many people are so stupid to fall for that? I looked at him and said "and where do I sign to DECLINE?" He kind of double-taked over that one. I'm a little weird though - I sort of have fun playing with car dealership people.

You do know that a bottle of Xzilon costs $75 at amazon.com Charging $925 to apply the stuff seems like a lot. (If you live in So Cal, I will be happy to apply it for you for 1/2 that price :) I think your best bet is to find a good car wash and have them apply wax by hand (not the spray on stuff)
