    Hey all!

I live in Chicago, and ordered a 2006 PKG4 (will get from a NY market), and was going to do an add-on leather package with heated seats at the dealership. At least 10 dealers said if done at the dealership and at the time of purchase, it will not affect any part of the warranty and is not a safety issue. The 11th dealer said it will void the waranty of any affected parts if not done at the factory or at port, and Toyota Corp would not be held liable if safety bags do not deploy!! In fact, the 11th dealer's info was correct, as I verified it from Toyota (Toyota Customer Experience Service Line: (800) 331-4331). I CANNOT believe that many dealers would lie or "misinform" about something that can jeopordize safety. Any similar experiences/info from ya'll?

    Thanks!

If you get that agreement from the dealer in writing, they will be bound to cover the expense, whether or not Toyota reimburses the dealership for warrantee coverage.

Also, if the add-ons are not what caused a warrentee-covered part to fail, the coverage is intact until or unless Toyota can prove that the add-on is what caused the failure.

That's true. I'm not concerned about the quality of the leather, but wonder if I should be concerned that having after-market leather will reduce the performance of internal air bag deployment within the seats (even though the Toyota dealer says the leather is specifically designed for this condition, but Toyota Corp. will not be held liable because it was not done at the factory).
