So why would you ever?!?

It will be really hard to drive a car that doesn't shut the ICE off at a stop. I don't think I could handle it.

 

I had a car that automatically stopped running at stops in the 1960s.

 

Did you try a little STP at your next fill-up?

 

I have a 2006 and a 2012....I was going to trade in my 2006 but the wife demanded that she gets it!!! We love our Prius(s)! Also I am a loyal Toyota brand owner...I had an issue with my air conditioner condenser (almost a $600.00 job )when it was out of warranty ...called Toyota USA and they stepped up to the plate and took care of it!!!. A few months ago had an issue with my 2006 battery. One dealer wanted $3700. Again called Toyota USA to complain cause under Massachusetts law it is warrant to 150K! ( had 135k). Toyota USA said the dealer was wrong and they not only would replace the battery free of charge and return the cost of the diagnostic charge but would also fix the coolant problem that the engine computer codes shown that needed to be fix (dealer wanted $475.00 to fix) free of charge!!! Yup....I sticking with Toyota.....

 

Came from a 300hp 535i, and would never even think about going back.

I would go to Leaf maybe because I want to be one less american dependent on foreign oil.

 

The 2005 Prius was my most recent auto purchase in Oct 2010. It also had the most miles on it (134K) than any other car I've purchased. Many people asked me why I would buy a hybrid with that many miles on it knowing that it was no longer covered by a warranty. I told them that cars last much longer now than they used to and Toyota is known for excellent quality. I was right.

Fast forward to Oct 2012 and 50K miles later - I have not noticed any change in this car from the day I bought it. Other than the HV electric water pump, I have not experienced any major issues. I'm hoping to reach the 299,999 mile mark before I sell it.

I will never return to an ICE again. It's HEV, PHEV, or BEV from now on.

 

I sold my 2010 Prius to buy a Porsche Cayman S. The Cayman is a fun car but not practical at all so I'm selling it and purchasing a Prius Plug In. I commute by bicycle quite a bit which helps. This was an expensive lesson for me but I'll get over it. I test drove a PiP at the dealer yesterday but the EV battery was dead so it wasn't much of a test drive.

 

I got rid of my 2010 Prius and bought a Plug-in Prius. And if a higher-capacity Plug-in Prius comes out, I might trade-in again. So there's that.

But if you're looking for a reason someone would sell their Prius, there's a one-word answer: Entune.

 

Wow is Entune really that bad? Glad I got the base 2012.

 

I would trade my Prius for a BEV that gets a legitimate 100+ mile range and costs < $40K before incentives. I want to eliminate the ICE entirely.

 

I agree. Toyota really dropped the ball with Entune. I honestly feel guilty recommending a Toyota to a friend knowing that the Navigation system is such trash.

What happened to the old Toyota navigation???

i find the nav to be about the same as my 04, poor compared to my $100. nuvi. but that's not why i drive a pri, and it is nice to have it built in.

 

The problem is that Toyota promises you Internet and GPS, and they don't deliver on their promise.

I just use WAZE GPS on my iPhone, so it doesn't matter much to me. The Internet apps in Entune are completely useless as well. But all of the entertainment functions, the Bluetooth and stuff all work well.

 

I wish they can just put a big ipad instead of what-ever lack of function navigation that cost 3k, just give us a detachable ipad 700 with multi-function I bet Prius will get one of those high tech award just for integrating Apple product to the car.

 

Great idea. But only as an option. I'd hate to lose that detachable screen and need to fork over $800 for a replacement. Channeling Art Linkletter - Kids DO the darnest things.

I May be wrong - correct me if so - but if you utilize the entune app you have to have an unlimited data plan. The salesman told us that when we picked the car up and I have never used that feature - or the nav system either for that matter. I don't need either but I do especially like the sat radio.

 

I don't think its a technical requirement, but it will use your phones data so you could get hit with a surprise phone bill if you use pandora all the time or something without unlimited.
