So I just bought a new Nexus 7 (16gb) for 199 (price just dropped *SQUEEL*) and have really been wanting to use it as a navigation system for my 05 prius (of which i have no factory nav).

Nexus 7 is pretty much the perfect size for a nav system much like new cars today with nav systems.. albeit is probably a lot better. Really responsive, easily search points of interest, google integration with your searches and saved locations on your desktop or laptop... just awesome. And great graphics too. Paired with my phone over wifi for data.

Stumbled upon this user who used a bungee cord with his full sized iPad and decided to try that on a Gen II. Picked up the nexus travel case.. which is 19.99 and then got the bungees from walmart (came in a little box full of them for about 5 bucks).

    And what I have:[IMG]

Since I already have a radio in the cubby.. its covering up wasted space. After I took this picture I decided to place another bungee cord lower so it doesnt flap around during driving. Haven't tried using it yet, but if anyone's interested I'll let you know how it goes :)

An additional note: I feel like the best part is how easy it is to take the tablet out of the car.. just slide it up and you've got your tablet with your cover ready to go. No hassle to take it out of the cover and mount it on a windshield or dash mount.

Very innovative. Perhaps Toyota may integrate iPad into new models from th factory.

Awesome man. I might have to jump on this setup.. I've been waiting. Can you provide some links to what you bought? Also, does the bungee just go through the case?

Ever since I heard about the iPad Mini rumors a few months back I've been OBSESSED with getting it integrated into my 2007 Prius. A couple of years I purchased the Dice Electronics MediaBridge and had it installed. The audio sounds great but the control through SAT is terrible. My plan is to re-route the iPod interface to the cubby hole then mount a holder in there to hold the iPad Mini somewhere between the bottom of the radio controls and the bottom of the cubby. Has anyone done this for any other 7" tablets? Is anyone thinking of mounting an iPad mini? Should I start a separate thread? Thanks!

I think if you're good with fabricating things it would be a worthwhile project (though I'd imagine you'd lose the ability to close your cubby hole).

Starting a separate thread wouldn't hurt at all I don't think! Go for it
