Sorry you had to have such a bad dealer experience.

I agree with edthefox5 with your MG temp numbers. They look very close to what I have observed.

I started to comment on your high numbers but with you having the Gen II and I had the Gen III I did not know how these compared.

I also agree wholeheartedly with your recommendation that others should monitor these numbers with a SG or other device with Prius capabilities.

    Good luck with your car.

here is the bad thing , the first day i was there when they replaced the water pump i had them do a trans flush to the tune of $150
when i found out they were not going to replace the inverter pump i told them not to do it because i knew i would have to do it again if the inverter got hot, but they had already done it in the shop so there was nothing i could do

i am super busy with horse trailer and truck mods, repairs, etc the next few weeks but i plan to take it in to precision toyota here in town and discuss all this with them and see if it is recommended that trans is replaced after inverter pump failure if the warranty people will cover them to do it, because i really do not feel i should have to pay again

if they wont i will change it myself

i want to trade this car into a 2010 with a 125, 000 miles warranty or sell it and buy a 2010 with warranty
but if i cannot get what i want for it then i will probably keep it
also i am so used to having a little more clearance with the air suspension that i am not sure i will not be unhappy being stock height again, it really makes a huge difference just having an inch or so more clearance

having a million gauges on my truck and knowing the peace of mind you have when you really know what is going on with your vehicle
i should have gotten off my butt and programmed the scan gauge a while back, but i admit i was lazy about this car because i knew i planned to trade it before it was out of warranty so i have not watched it so much

i will try to do some research tonite on what other things i should watch on a prius

This has been a very informative thread for me as I am a new owner. Thanks for the posts and updates on the progress. I will continue to be watching for how the various issues play out. I also need to study the setup and use of the Scan Gauge. Is there a particular model of this that is preferable?

The ScanGauge II is the one most widely used on this forum. You can go to Linear-Logic website or either search Google for ScanGauge II.

The list price is $150 but you can check eBay or Amazon and usually find some pretty good deals. I found mine at Amazon for $125. Check and be sure they have the latest firmware rev level which the last time I checked was 4.06.
