Even if that other poster has a V, take heart knowing that I have a c, and I use the wiper regularly :) Don't know that I would call it "necessary," simply because my old car didn't have one and plenty don't, but I quite like having it.

It may depend on the area, it rains more in Quillayute, Washington (106 " a year) than in Yuma, Arizona. (2.63 " a year)
Since I grew up close to Quillayute, I tend to value wipers more than others might.

In my part of the world, global cooling has decreased precipitation to the point that we rarely have need of the rear wiper (or the front, for that matter).
In case global warming returns before I pay for this car, I can always upgrade and replace the wiper that was removed:

Original 15" steel wheels with the original hubcaps painted black. Waiting until the original tires are worn a bit more before replacing wheels and tires.

Is the edge a metal ring? I was thinking of using the original steel wheel and wheel trim ring plus a chrome center cap. Can you provide links to where you bought the rings and caps? thx!

No, I'm serious. Some PC's come with black steel and some come in white. Mine are all black. I would like to have the edge of them be polished chrome. The rings and cap idea is something I read on another forum. They looked pretty nice.

As I clearly stated above, these are the original steel wheels that came on the car (which are not alloy wheels by definition). They are black to begin with. I removed the original hubcaps that came on these steel wheels and painted them black. Then I put them back on the wheels. I used a can of black spray paint that adheres to plastic.

There are no trim rings; there are no center caps.

AHA. This was my old Gen II. The wheels are indeed 16" black with a machined lip. I can't remember if they were Drag or MB. Got them at Discount Tire. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I can't imagine not having the rear wiper. I does look better without it, but I use mine whenever it rains, as I can't see if I don't. I wouldn't want to go through the salt-ridden winter without it. Of course, I'm a bit OCD about having a clean car and clear windows, so it could just be me lol.

Now, this has a better appearance than the wiper, does it not?
