    Here's a weird one.

Is it possible for an 04 Prius to be a "none of the above" car with NONE of the option packages installed? My own car (which some have taken to be a package 1) does not have side airbags nor a rear wiper (both fine by me). It does have an installed security system (which I think is the "VIP" dealer-installed system). Other options--smart entry, 6-CD, nav, etc.---not a one. Essentially, this car is perfectly clean. What is it?

    Did I get the special-edition "ain't-nothin'-in-it" version?

Sounds like you got package #2 (GY), I would double check on the side airbags. With the #2 you should have them. The #2 is the only option without a rear window wiper.

Isn't it called a base model? With none of the options.

The #1 package (RW) has only the rear wiper, and the #2 package has only the airbags. There is no "package 0" as far as I'm aware (I'm sure Dianne can confirm this). There's no package that doesn't have one or the other of these two items...

My point exactly, Jason, but my pillars don't have the airbag labels (nor do they have the break points for the bags) and I don't have a rear wiper. It's a base model of SOME sort.

Did you get it 'used'? Is it white? :)

    Sounds like a 'Fleet' Vehicle.

Maybe some dealer got a Rental or Government Fleet Vehicle and just decided to retail it.

There is one gentleman on the board who has a "no option" Prius. He was also from the SE Distributorship, IIRC - Asheville, I believe.

Hmm... Surely when you bought this from the dealer, there was paperwork on it. My paperwork says what model I got... And what the base msrp was, etc. Should be able to figure it out from all that.

Likely you have a "base" model with no options. There is a basic security system that'is part of the standard package. Some of the option packages have an upgraded security system.
Because there isn't much profit margin on the base model, they are pretty rare. Here in Seattle, the available options are packages 1, 7, and 9. I have seen three Prii with no rear wiper and I think they are base models; probably used as dealer TRAC cars.

I have a salsa red base model no package. Came with the VIP alarm and floor mats. Paid MSRP in February, got it only after waiting two months because no one wanted just base on the waiting list. Base salsa red is exactly what I wanted so I was excited.

Not to knock anyone's decision, but I'm not sure how I'd fare driving an '04 w/o Smart Entry. I love that feature.

I believe that I am the guy Danny was referring to from Asheville, NC. Actually I live in Flat Rock but close.

I have the base model - no rear wiper and no side airbags. I wanted Pkg 6 for the smart entry but it was a case of take it or leave it. I did get the color (Salsa Red) that I wanted and 6 indash cd player, homelink mirror, floor mats were port added. I was the first to take delivery in this area - the dealer still only gets 1 car every 4-6 weeks. Not sure I would have even gotten a Prius if I had held out - asked about deferring for the next available and was told no.

The base model is not a trac car - dealer had three trac cars all had rear wiper pkg 1. Also not a fleet car although fleets may opt for the base model.

I am very pleased with my choice (Yes, I do wish I had smart entry, maybe next time) have heard lots of negatives regarding the rear wiper and have found the rear window stays clear even in the rain - I do use RainX front and rear. When I had seat covers made they (GT Covers) sent me the ones for the side air bags so they are sending the correct ones next week - not a lot of difference except I will not have the airbag flap. Bottom Line $22,000 out the door which I like a lot better than 25 or 26k. May trade this one in for next generation stuff in 3-4 years. :D
