I listen to podcasts from my iPhone 4s when commuting back and forth to work using the usb cable. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that for some reason after the ios 6.0.1 update that problems have emerged using entune. When I start listening to a podcast, it plays back at a fast speed. I know there are control's on the Podcasts App to control the speed, but it's a pain in the a$$ because it doesn't always work.

I used to be able to go in through the entune screen and browse for the podcast I wanted to listen to and just hit play. Now when I do it, it plays at double the speed. Also, if I get back into the car and start listening again, it starts back at the beginning. I have to fumble around between entune and the Podcasts app until I finally get it to work properly.

I know one work around is to use BT to listen, but that defeats the purpose. has anyone else experienced these issues?

I have the update, but I listen to podcasts via USB flashdrive. I have not had any playback speed related issues. Are you using an app on your phone to play the podcast through the entune system? I experimented with putting the podcasts on my droid, and using bluetooth, but the interface was worse for browsing and the volume was so low that turning it up blasted any other sound source when you switched from BT to FM, say. I do wish I could FFW and REV through a podcast.

I use the new Podcast app from ios 6.0.1 played through my entune system. The reason why I try to use it is for the ability to FFW & REW easily. On my way home from work tonite I had the same problem again, but I was able to clear it up fairly quickly by tapping the speed control on the Podcast app. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.

Maybe a different App? I haven't tried playing podcasts through my phone via USB, just BT. One thing about the USB flashdrive: the stereo always defaults to the podcast if the flashdrive is plugged in. Another thing is that if I stop in the middle of a long podcast, when I start back up, it picks up right where I left off. favorites: RadioLab and 99%invisible among others.

I have an iPhone on 6.0.1. I use the Downcast app for podcasts, and haven't had any issues with playback speed. Occasionally the Prius display will still show the last song I was playing through the music app instead of the name of the podcast, but the audio playback is fine so far. I use the phone to browse for podcasts though, not the Entunes screen.

Last night I took schlem's advice and looked for another app. I had been so used to listening to podcasts via the Podcasts app that I didn't think of using another app. I found PodCruncher ($1.99) and downloaded it. So far so good as far as playback speed. I tested it out on the way to work this morning. It's a little funky interfacing with Entune, but I was able to FF & REW as needed. What I have to do now is wipe out all of my podcasts from the Podcasts app and see if it plays better with Entune.

This morning I couldn't find my podcasts using the Entune screen, so I just selected it via the app. When I went to Audio on the Entune screen it didn't accurately show what it was playing and the recording time was off. After I finished that podcast I switched to another via the app and it showed up on the screen no problem. But, if I tried to search for it using the browse feature on Entune it didn't show up. Although, it accurately showed the cover art and the recording time on the screen. A little confusing, but the main thing is that it's playing at the correct speed.

    Thanks schlem!!!

I have an iPhone 5 and use the Instacast app for podcasts. Works fine.

Do you get full functionality via Entunes?

I think so. I can play/pause the podcast from the Entune screen.

If you use the browse feature on Entune, will all the podcasts show up?

That's weird, because I had some problems on the way home from work, but once it started playing FF & REW weren't an issue. You can FF & REW using the app on the phone.

I have a 2013 Prius Three. 2013 isn't an option when you register for the Forums! Using iPhone 5 with up to date iOS.

Anyway, in my 2012 Prius -- totaled in an accident -- I could sit down in the car and my podcasts (Downcast) or audiobooks (Music app) would start playback at double speed right where I left off through Bluetooth. In the 2013, nothing will play at faster than 1X speed. It won't play at all, or it skips all over. Sometimes, when I was listening to FM and shut the car off, when I return, it switches back to BT and picks some random song from iTunes.

Anyone have a solution? I haven't called Toyota, because I know they'll be clueless.

I have been using PodCruncher since I had exactly the opposite problem from you with the Podcast app. I would have problems playing it at 1x speed. Podcruncher isn't bad and takes some getting used to.

Thanks for the tip! I tried PodCruncher and the playback worked great, but I didn't like the audio quality of the 2X playback. It sounded too choppy/digitized. I tried Stitcher and RSSRadio also and I'm going with RSSRadio. There were a couple features of Downcast that I liked that RSS doesn't have, but I'll take it for now! Thanks again.

Update: Free RSSRadio app still working well and free Audible app now working for audiobooks. Both play at 2x speed and when I leave the car with something playing and come back in, it starts automatically.

    Ah!

I have a little of the above problem plus some of my own uniqueness in my 2012 III. Hope for some good advice.

When a podcast ends, the Entune screen says stopped (if in iPod mode) or a paused symbol (BT connection). I look down at my phone and the next track has already begun and playing. If I cycle my stereo through the modes it can do (AM, FM, SAT) via the steering wheel, when I come back to the BT or iPhone connection, it finds the phone and is playing albeit a few seconds ahead. If I cycle too fast (I think), it doesnt pick it up and I have to do it again. When it doenst catch it and I am on the BT connection, sometimes I see the track timer moving on the Entune screen implying its playing but I get no sound. Cycling through again fixes it.

Dealership doesnt know (shock) but they were helpful and are documenting it formally with the Toyota Eng team. They tried my phone on a JBL system in another car and had the same problem. The tech had his own iphone and could repeat the problem. Using the music app, no issues so it almost seems married to the Podcast app.

I am willing to try the other apps suggested in here but since most arent free, I wanted to try some suggestions first. I did try RSSRadio but it doesnt show my podcasts in there.

Other details... I am using the OEM Apple cable. I have tried it with being connected with both via BT and the cable at the same time as well as BT only or cable only and that doesnt seem to matter. All of my material is playing at 1.5x speed

I have been using PodCruncher. For the most part it is good, even though it does have some quirks. For one thing, the time into a podcast is usually off on the NAV screen. Although, it does have some nicer features than the Podcast app. BTW - It's free!
