Just curious what do you mean by "dealer did deferred down for this"?

I wrote a separate check that they'll hold for 8 weeks while the CA rebate is processed by the state... Basically they are just giving me time to get they state rebate to apply it to the down.

Do you mind if I ask which dealer and sales person? I'm actually looking to buy today and have sent offers to some dealers. Also, Longo in El Monte shows a $1500 TFS rebate on their site? Any ideas on that?

Thanks for the info. I'm seriously considering having the car shipped from the east coast with the huge rebates over there. If I can find a really good deal here in SoCal i'll just suck it up and avoid the hassle.

1500 was the old rebate, good through the end of October. The current TFS rebate is just 1000, good through December.

Wow! And here I was, feeling smug about the 33.7K I paid for my PIP Advanced! But then, I see that you have $4K in federal and state incentives. Yours still is a better deal at 32K- the difference is the additional 1.5K in Toyota rebate available in the DC region (compared to the NY region).

So I decided to get the car from NJ region. They have a lot in stock and several of the dealers seemed very adept at what it takes to ship a car cross state lines.

But, my local dealer mentioned that there may be some problems with shipping a vehicle into CA from out of state unless the vehicle has a certain number of miles. Anyone have any problems with that? II'm trying to get info from the DMV but still waiting.

Here is the message that was sent to me from the local dealer.
"Just talked to manager and he told me you can't just ship in a vehicle with less then a certain miles. He said you will get fined. Check the dmv website for all the particulars. I wanted to tell you. Read online the dmv website"

    Thanks in advance!

When did you buy? NY region is supposed to have at least 4k in rebates. Did dealer pull a fast one?

Sounds like bullshit to me. Here's the relevant link btw:
Before Buying a Vehicle From Out of State - Be Sure You Can Register It in California FFVR 29

You'd have a problem if you were buying a vehicle that was not certified for California emissions regs. The Prius is certified for sale in all 50 states, so this isn't an issue. Further, NJ follows California emissions regs, so ANY new vehicle purchased there can be brought to CA.

Thanks lensovet! DMV returned my call and told me that it is only emission that is a problem. As long as emisions are fine, car can be registered. Pretty much what you just said.
I found the same link and a person at DMV confirmed the same. NJ...here I come!

If this works, I'll definitely posts the details. There are a LOT of cars there and the dealers seem really knowledgeable and upfront.

If all discounts and rebates go through, this car will roughly be the cost of a prius 3. :)

Side note...if a prius plug in can't pass CA smog, then we got WAAAAY too many regulations here.

As all AT-PZEV vehicles are, Prius (plugin and not) is exempt from smog checks for life.

So the Ford Dealer I was speaking with regarding a fusion came told me that they finally got the fusion hybrids in. I let him know I decided on a prius and he told me. "God Bless Japan and God Bless you" and hung up the phone. He later sends me an email. "Japan loves you, keep buying toyota, thank you."

I don't think they were taught proper customer service at that dealership. Someone there must have lost a lot of business to toyota and honda.

Just wanted to point out to people that Black Friday is coming around and some dealers might be willing to make even better deals.
As an example, I just got an email from Lithia Toyota in Springfield, OR. They are giving $2,750 off MSRP on all vehicles and will also match your down payment up to $1k. Combine this with the $1,500 TFS rebate, and you're looking at a total of $5,250 off MSRP for a base model PiP. Looks like they've got 4 each of Advanced and Base models.

Lensovet, the purchase price did not include the $2,500.00 federal tax credit. The $500.00 bonus was included in the in the purchase price. There were three other fees not included, document fee ($349.00) registration transfer fee ($100.00) and sales tax (6.25 percent).
