    Hey Y'all,

My wife backed our Highlander into the Prius last year and damaged the hood. Pretty good dents, but the latch still works and there isn't any other damage. I'm thinking about repacing it myself. It looks like a pretty straightforward job, just unbolt the old one and bolt in the new one (and hooking up the wiper fluid sprayers).

Before I proceed, is there anything I'm missing or should be considering? It's definately not a show car, so I want to do this inexpensively, i.e. it just needs to look pretty good, not perfect.

Also, I'm looking for ideas for the replacement hood. Any recommendations on where to find a replacement hood (preferably black)? And what about the Toyota badge - is it difficult to remove and replace if I need to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    E. J.

The original hood is made of aluminum. Aftermarket may be made of steel. If you don't want to buy a new original equipment part, I suggest that you try to obtain a used part from a salvage yard instead of buying aftermarket since the fit may not be very good.

    Thanks Patrick,

I was thinking of a salvage yard or something like that. I'll look around next week and see what I can find.

Best bet would be a salvage yard or a dismantler cause like Patrick said, aftermarket pieces don't always fit right &/or not made with the same material.
