So I just ordered some foglight for my new gen III prius and was wondering what would be better for functional purposes. From reading some of the post on PC, I believe the halogen would be best, since most of the light won't be reflected back from the fog (is it because its not as bright as HID?) and most importantly it won't blind oncoming drivers (my biggest pet peeve is HID in halogen housing). But theoretically shouldn't HID at a low 3000k be okay? Since it is a yellow (long wavelength) light and also since the fog lights are mounted low, it shouldn't blind drivers? I've also notice people who have HID's in non projector housing with higher K's like 6000-8000k are more obnoxious compared to the low 3000k. Please help and explain to a new fellow Prius owner what the smart decision would be before I make a mistake. lol I'm asking you guys because you seem to be really a smart group of people.

Put HIDs in your projector low beam housings and stick with halogens in your reflector based foglights.

I would suggest the same thing and go with the putco jet yellow bulbs for your foglights. You won't be disappointed.

I tried the nokya's before but it was not as yellow as the putco's.

thanks guys, I'll purchase the putco's. Do you recommend me to put laminex on it to prevent the glass from cracking?

I ordered Nokya hyper yellow bulbs from amazon since the there isn't prime on the putco's. Will post pictures once I install it and put it in.

Nope, about to start installing it now. Still waiting on the bulbs. I guess I can do a before and after picture although camera's have a hard time capturing the correct color due to white balancing.

Only use HIDs in fixtures specifically designed for them. Otherwise you probably will blind oncoming drivers, get bad lighting, or both.

Regardless what the light source is, you need to make sure it only illuminates the ground. That's the point of fog lights. My friends that spent the extra money to use HID for their fog lights always used a retrofitted projector to ensure the cutoff stays low.

Also this is why you never use an HID kit inside a halogen projector. There is ALWAYS light bleed and the people that defends that use are the ones unwilling to spend the extra money and lying to themselves. I have taken pictures that shows the difference between the 2 of the same headlights (retrofit vs kit).

Here you go. Nokya hyper yellow 25k. It might need to be adjusted still or it's just parked on a hill.

The color temp looks great, nice and warm. ;)

The aim is definitely too high though, and it's not cause you're parked on an incline. The last picture is taken from at a pretty wide angle, and the light is still glaring into the lens.
