I noticed that my key fob has stopped working for remote locking/unlocking. This was not fixed with a brand new battery, and I just noticed that the depressed "unlock" button seems go have lost its subtle click, so there may be a mechanical failure inside there.

It would be nice to avoid spending $200(?) for a new fob from the dealer.

Should I just continue on without having the remote lock/remote unlock/panic button features?
Will I be still be able to use this fob for the long term -- for starting the car via insertion at the dashboard, and lock/unlock only when I am touching the door handles? Or would that be inviting trouble?

    Thanks for any advice.

I just had the same problem with my 2005. Everything else worked on the key except the remote buttons. For us, it turned out that the red button was stuck. We pressed it and now it works fine. Good luck.
