Prius Gen 3 tail lights.. Clear?

    Hey guys just recently got my Prius and love it, but today I parked next to another Prius and noticed he had clear tail lights on, I have a 2012 with the two red stripes going down. Here's a picture of what I saw today. The metallic gray has the clear tail lights I'm referring to, I have the other. My question is: are the clear ones after market, or are they OEM from the older gen 3 models ('10 & '11)? And do you guys have any good recommendations on where I can get them

    The one in the background (car w/plates) looks like the '10 to '11 tail light design. Yes, Toyota changed them for '12.

    OTOH, I don't know if they're a direct fit if you were to buy them from the Toyota parts counter. Maybe check w/them. I'd imagine you could buy them from another Prius owner, Ebay, or Toyota dealer, if they fit. Maybe someone would be willing to swap?

    The '10, '11, and '12 Prius taillights are interchangeable.

    You are comparing your 2012 Prius tail lights to the 2010-11 tail light design.

    ...Find somebody who is driving a "fleet car" or a company issued car that's a 2010-2011 and buy them lunch. :)

    I'm not really wild about either rear light assembly but I think that I prefer the 2010.

    I much prefer the 2012 lights but the aftermarket lights (Spec D,Valenti and others) some folks on here have look really good!

    See if you can get a set of PIP lights. They are like ours but clear. :) image.jpg

    I think those look good on silver but would look pretty ugly on other colors. But then again, I have been spoiled by my Valenti CRs.:p

    White, too. I can see from your avatar that the relatively clean silver lines of the PiP light would go well with that color too. So no need to be jealous there.:)

    For some odd reason I am in love with my OE red lights. :)

    I'd take a set of Valentis though! When they light up I'm like drool......
